propylene glycol, You can get a bottle of this at most Drug stores, call first and if they dont have it ask if they can order it. It usually takes a day or two for the warehouse to deliver to the RX..Just in case you did not know this use a 50/50 mix with the distilled water...

distilled water won't do it. the propolyne glycol i the catalist that keeps the humidity at 70% using water as the control. more available. too long to print here, [email protected]

Actually, the water is what provides the humidity, the PG is not a catalyst so much as a "regulator". If you can keep about 70% without PG all the power to ya. I choose the 50/50 blend to keep it simple, and to help prevent bacteria/mold etc. I know that you are well learned on this subject Rick, it was just the choice of words that I am commenting on. :) BTW, that is the FIST time that I EVER used a typed smiley face. It didn't do much for me....

Just water for me...I am sure PG is safe but I don't want any chemicals with my cigars. It's not that difficult for me to regulate. Also, CONGRATULATIONS on your first :) tail...you did a fine job!

I wasn't correcting your english, I was correcting your statement. You started off by saying that distilled water "won't do it". Well, yes it will. As for the "fist" thing, it wouldn't have been so terribly stupid of me if I didn't capitalize the damn thing! Thank you for making me laugh!

how does the water know when to stop putting humidity in the closed humidor and how does it know when it is too damp? for bud451, book burner or ray bradbury fan, the pg does not go into the humidor atmosphere.
all this about a bunch of dead leaves the original smokers never thought about.

Yeah, how does the water know when to stop? Also, while we're at it, how does a thermos know when to keep the contents cold and when to keep them hot????? Answer me THAT, Mr Science Guy.
