As you all know we still have many warriors in harms way as they continue the fight in Iraq. I am posting a note that I received from one of our Nations Warriors that is defending our Freedoms. If you can find it in your heart to send him and his crew a few gars then by all means do... Don't feel pressured to do so, I got a bunch of good smokes from JD1 this week that goes out to them Monday. Please, at least say a prayer for them and blow some smoke to the East. Mega Hooah!!!

Billy,

I am here at Camp Dogwood just south of Bahgdad Int. AP. We are trying to beat the heat and keep our head down, watch our six and herf all at the same time!

Glad to hear the program is still viable. My shipping addy here is:

CW3 Ken Sayar
D Co. 123rd MSB
Unit 92882
APO, AE 98324-2882

I appreciate the effort with the Gars for Troops. I have met several Brothers of the Leaf while out here.

God bless you and your family!

I'm from a long line of soldiers...WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War...

A box is out. I assume these folks won't mind a box from a commie ****! Ha ha.

I "Personally" appreciate the support from the family here at Cbid. I mailed a "Big Dam Box" yesterday with a few extra humi bags and humi packets. Good Thing I put in a few extra bags! =)

While mailing the box I was advised by the professional and friendly soldier at the APO that Ken give me the Wrong APO ADDRESS - It should have had a "0" in front of the APO.

Anyway here is the correct address 'if you haven't mailed yet'...If you have the Postal Officer informed me today that it will make it anyway but it will take a little more time.

CW3 Ken Sayar
D Co. 123rd MSB
Unit 92882
APO, AE 098324-2882

I also received a somber note from him today that I am sharing with you all - the brothers of the leaf. Be prepared before you read this for a real knot may appear in the throat...

Hello Billy,

Sounds great. But I thought I sent you APO 09324-2882. I am sure the package will make it here. That is why out unit number is posted in the addy. This is the correct APO. Please make any change.

Looking forward to receiving your package and gathering a bunch of the troops for a well-deserving herf. Complete with photos of course.

Many thanks to you and Jerry for the gars. I will post something on the board when it is available.

On a somber note, the 1AD soldier killed in an ambush on Sunday was from my battalion. He was a SPC in A Co. He is survived by his mother and sister. SGT T. Smith from my shop was there at the scene and made the confirmed kill of one of the two enemy Iraqis. It was the first death for our BN. Since this incident our BC decided to follow a 3ID practice to remove the doors on our Hummvs when in convoys. Until this incident he was adament against removing the doors. Many of the doors are vinyl and protect nothing but hinder range of view and limit shooting angle. So hopefully we can better protect our convoys to the Air Port from our location. Who thought a main maintence battalion would be under this much fire? You would think we would be better armored and better armed. But that is another story my friend.

Be well Billy!! God bless you and your family...

-Ken, KD7HTH

God Bless our Troops and Blow Some Smoke to the East - Please say a special pray for the family of our lost (But Not Forgotten) Warrior.

Regards,

Smithbw,

This is a great cause that I would like to partake in this but I have a question. Obviously its going to take a little while for a package to reach the soldiers. Do I need to package the cigars any differnetly (i.e. add something to humidify) or is the typical cigars in a zip lock encased in styrofoam popcorn ok?

Recently I've received some cigars from some individuals on this board where they requested that I not send something back to them. Instead they said to just pass on some smokes to someone else. I can't think of anyone else more deserving then our soldiers.

plabonte - Great Gesture and In My Opinion for a great cause.

I have humidifided my sticks in a humi-bag. I recommend doing the same. According, to the other brother that participate(d) in this conflict they have been battling the heat while trying to maintain the humidity.

What ever you can do would be greatly appreciated by our Nations Warriors.

Regards,

sketcha - A Valid Point:

Customs forms will be required to be completed since you will be mailing a box overseas. Please use "Personal Sundries" on the customs form.

Billy,

You got me again. This time you left out the "AE" after "APO". Was this intentional? If not, please post the correct address by itself one more time so as to make it easy for those of us with slow brains.

Thanks

Sketcha - Left it out on purpose. AE is for American Europe. He is not currently in Europe. Therefore, we leave it off!

I hope that I have not confused everyone. Just copy and paste the address above.

Thanks for your attention to detail and by now means do I consider you slow! =)

Box sent ... I assume they don't have humidors, so I used an old Baccarat box and a humistick.

Can these shipped from my local post office? I have a small cooler I would like to ship suitably stocked. I can make up a humidifier with Climaxx beads to include. That way as long as they have water to add periodically they will have their own personal "desertdor".

Incredible Ideal!!! Wisht that I had thought about it... =)

I am sure that you can ship it from your PO. Just put personal sundries on the box and it won't have any problems. I really appreciate your support for our Warriors and I am sure that they will appreciate your help as well.
