I would like to take this time to beg forgiveness from all the wise and sage brothers of the leaf. I did not heed the venerable advice from this post

I smoked the Helix instead of giving it away like I was advised to do. I have learned my lesson and I am prepared to take my beatings (although smoking the Helix was punishment enough)

LOL. Live and learn. We've all been there. Just HAD to try it when warned not to, didn't you?!

Want some Bad Frogs? I just HAD to try them because they couldn't possibly be THAT bad!

I thought the Helix XPs weren't all that bad, especially as they get some age on them.

I always saw Helix advertised out to the wazoo in magazines and tried one at my local smoke shop.

I can't speak for the Helix Maduro (which I haven't had), but the Helix Natural was the smoking equivalent of a calculus lecture. It was one of the most boring, bland, uncomplicated smokes I've ever had. I was thinking of trying Don Tomas or Astral (which are made by the same people), should I even bother?

Those are one rung above a Lone Wolf. I tried, I really did.

I was given one by my dad, and smoked half of it. Then Edward's had a show about 2 months ago. They were debuting the Helix Maduro. I was in the neighborhood, and wanted to bump into some old cigar pals of mine. Someone stuck one in my hand, and it took about an hour for me to even light it up. Once I did, I realized that I'd made a mistake.

If you like them harsh with no redeeming aspect, then this is THE "cigar" for you, but most people that I know stay away from them like the plague.

Ok here is what I experienced. This is the Helix Maduro that I had. The construction was medium, prelight taste was next to nothing, draw was very easy. After toasting took my first draw and thought maybe someone had accidently left some dried grass clippings stuck to the end. After smoking about half the harsh, all the way to the back of your throat harshness, did not go away so I tossed it. There was really no flavor just harsh smoke. Maybe just maybe some down time (like a decade or two) may make this a decent smoke. Honestly it did have a "green" taste to it.

Either way I have been duely punished for not listening to my elders.

Smoking the Helix was letting you off lightly. If you really want to do penitence, limit yourself to nothing but Bad Frogs for a minimum of one week!!!!!!! Bahhahahaha!!!!

Biarritz Coffee Breaks...they reacted w/the fillings in my mouth causing a mustardy taste.

I found that the Ligero leaf might be the culprit but not completely sure. Can't remember the filler for these nasties..
