I had to dig like a ground squirrel in the ploomidor to get them, but I dug out a belicoso and smoked it tonight. I was surprised at how the bite leaves these with a little age. Still kicks like a mule, but definitely smoother.

When they were first released I bought two boxes of Gran Consuls. I wasn't thrilled about the large gauge, but it was the only size in stock. I didn't expect them to be so strong. I'd smoked plenty of pre-Antano 1970 Joyas and got taken by surprise. I thought they were beautifully rolled and packaged, but harsh. When the opportunity arose, I traded away one box. I put the other box down for a long rest, and just dug out one cigar this past week.

They're getting there. Most of the harshness is gone. I was surprised how much nicotine these cigars have. I felt a touch quesy after smoking.

I've been sitting on half a box of Machitos for about three months, mostly cause I didn't like the wet Churchill I smoked for my first J.de N. Maybe save them for the H.A.R.D. 5 herf in Reno the week before Thanksgiving.Last year the manufacturer was kind enough to send two boxes for the herf, and I enjoyed seeing several XXX Hardcore Herfers just about overdose on those. But maybe seven months rest will mellow the Machitos.

I smoked one that I got in a trade with JD1. It kicked my A$$. Put the rest down about 6 months ago. I went back last night and pulled one out of the depths of the coolador. I still think that this gar is an overdose of Nicotine but what a ride....

Regards,

B

Cut it out, you guys. It's only 9 a.m. and I'm alerady Jonesing for one. I like to wait until at least noon before lighting a JNA. Otherwise it's like Jack Daniels for breakfast.

You know, I could go for a black t-shirt that shows a good sized logo in white and the words "Hey, what's wrong with a little Jack for breakfast?" below it ... wonder if I could get one done up ...

Best weekend breakfast drink, IMNSFHO: half beer, half tomato juice, served very cold, neither shaken nor stirred, just pour.

I consider the JdN's just dead strong! By comparison, I consider Bucanero's full bodied. I like 'em both!

You mean everyone doesn't substitute Jack Daniels for milk poured over your Wheaties for breakfast? :) Love the JdNs. I liked the old ones years ago before they started having a perpetual revolution down there, but they've really got it together with the Antanos. Just can't seem to get them at a real bargain on Cbid. Guess the word's out!
