Was looking at this. I have seen alot of bad comments on Colibri. Is that toward all of them or is this one any good.

Every one of my 'good' lighters are Colibri ... and I haven't had any trouble with any of them. Not a lick ...

Colibri has been around a long time, and continue to stay in business, and come up with new lighers, when other companies have gone 'by the wayside'.

The key, I feel, is to use the best butane you can find, triple-refined at the very least ... and quintruple-refined, if you can find it.

Volcano LAVA Premium Butane is the best there is out there, at the present time ... and is pretty remarkable fuel. Refined 5X ...

Also, Colibri has a new lighter out now ... called 'The Beam Sensor', in which when the cap is opened, and you 'break the light beam' with your finger ... it ignites.

I saw it at a local shop ... and it's pretty high-tech, and very cool!

Too cool. Sounds like my next lighter to screw up and leave at a restaurant!

I've heard a lot of negative comments about Colibri here and elsewhere. Maybe I've just been extrordinarily lucky but I've usually had good luck with all of the Colibri lighters I've owned. That's certainly not say there are not excellent lighters under other brand names (I've been using my Thor twin jet for some months now and really enjoy it), but it seems Colibri is always coming out with some innovative/unique product or another. Agree the fuel is the key. Personally I think LAVA is a better fuel in Colibri lighters as well as any others, than Colibri fuel is. Just my thoughts.......

I've been using one (the same one) for several years, no problems, works great.

I have a Colibri Quantum Chancellor and I've noticed it has some of the problems mentioned above.

But I use cheap butane that I have to refill every few days, so maybe that's it.

Hey Slim, where can I get some of that LAVA butane?

I've had 3 chancellors. They work fine for a few months - then jam up and are hard to fix. I've only used Colibri's butane. I like the chancellor because of the built-in slot cutter. But for the money, my Prometheus has worked better and longer with no problems.
