Cigar cutting

This was something I was wondering...

Say, you cut a cigar, but end up not smoking it, and just put it back in your humidor.

Does this affect the cigar in any way? The only thing I can think of is that the wrapper might come loose.

It would dry out if stored that way for any real length of time.

DrMaddVibe --- don't you think that it wouldn't be an issue if your humidor was properly humidified?

... after all, the foot (on most cigars) is trimmed, so what difference would it make if the cap was also cut?

I've cut the cap on quite a few cigars over the years, and ended up having to put them back, and then not being able to get back to them for quite some time ... and I haven't noticed any difference or ill effects.

Cutting a cigar and not smoking it is comparable to getting steamed up and naked but not having sex. Sorry, just can't see that happening.

Saw a post about this somewhere. Someone answered that some cigars may unravel if cut and stored. Don't know how true that is. Slim it's your call.

Guess it might depend on length of storage after cutting. Had a friend of mine who would "pre-cut" cigars when he was going to have cigar smoking novices over, to make sure it was done right. Of course he didn't keep them in the hummidor for a long time after that but I can't really see how it would adversely effect them if the RH was maintained correctly.
