I don't think anyone here are nazi's, Lots of brothers of the leaf with differing political ideals. Though the idea of a preemptive strike, on shaky intelligence, I had an idea, at that time some of the "intellegence" was fabricated, and the demonizing of anyone who didn't agree with GWB, is very much a facist stance. There still hasn't been an Iraq AlQuaida connection established, so that arguement, is pure propaganda. The Yellowcake debacle, pure propaganda, the demonizing of opposition voices, pure propaganda. At the time, the idea of going into Iraq, and taking it over, as the 51st state smacked of facist imperialism, still does to some degree.
That said, I do believe that Saddam needed to be removed. Just think that the threats, to our country, and our allies, was overstated, so Bush could get his war. I still believe that we need to bring the U.N. into the rebuilding phase, and the building of the new government in Iraq. Why, you ask??? If we appear to be the conquerers, to the Iraqi people, and not the liberators, the attacks on our servicemen and women, will continue, and increase, as well as recruitment incentives into the various terrorist organizations. But other than that.
The USA is the greatest country to live in, in the world. I just think we need to work with the international community to solve our problems abroad. Let our diplomats do their job, and yes, improve our intelligence.

Dave, C'mon...its not hard to connect the dots. While this thug( http://www.seacoastonline.com/2002news/08222002/world/20426.htm) didn't have "direct" ties, you're telling me that he doesn't know somebody in Al Queida?

It's a good thing we did what we did. Drop the fabrication thingy too. If you want to use poor information go ahead, but I don't remember seeing ANYONE badmouth Clinton for launching missles on intelligence he had. To try and discredit the Bush Administration is laughable. To believe that you have to say you don't believe 41'(Bush),Clinton and the UN!

The US and it TRUE allies stepped up and did what the rest of those chicken$hit countries wouldn't. Real easy to sit in NY and vote. We all got to see how many put their money where their wallets are though.

N. Korea is next.

hmmm,
Still no connection between Iraq, and terrorist organizations. A terrorrist leader, being killed, in Iraq, possibly by Iraqis themselves, does not implicate Iraq, rather the opposite. Looks like grasping at straws.

12 times the UN voted. 12 times they swore to military action. The time for foot-dragging was over. There comes a time when doing the right thing isn't popular. History will show that this was a time when we were right and had a leader that had the guts to see it through despite the chance that he might only be a one term President for his actions in a post 9-11 world.

Also, in re-reading this post...you REALLY believe that WE were being "imperialistic"? They way I saw it, was the rest of the free world stepping up and protecting a small but rich country from the military occupation of Iraq. Do remember that HE invaded Kuwait. We liberated Kuwait. There won't be any re-writing of history there!

The United States Marines engaged in close-quarters fighting with "pro-Saddam" mercenary jihadists from Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Sudan and elsewhere. Marines commented that the foreign troops were poorly trained and organized but fought fiercely.
3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment reportedly seized one of Saddam Hussein's palaces 20 miles southeast of Baghdad near the town of Salman Pak, famous for a terrorist training camp that includes shell of a passenger jet used for terrorist hijacking practice. The Marines also searched a Republican Guard headquarters in the town.

Here's a different point of view from a vet with time in the sand. America has and should continue to spread misinformation about the entire war and many of the ties so we may pursue those that must be caught. If we keep wanting the truth to be published and broadcasted it will only fall into the hands of the enemy. We should not use the media to tell our true intentions so the rest of the world can forecast our strategy. I say have a little more faith in the old US and trust that there is a reason we do what we do. Every American wants to feel as if their cause is a just one but never should we lay out our plans and intelligence. One thing the military taught me is that we have very intelligent people in these positions and many of the controversy is intentional and much of it is a political stab at the other party. I say we confuse the **** out of the enemy with misinformation, media frenzy, keep people emotionaly involved to cloud judgement, and let them doubt us while we pound the **** out of them.
