I read this tonight;

"a wonderful combination of triple-fermented wrapper and fillers. The flavor is full and heady with a savory, electrifying and slightly sweet taste."

Ok, they could at least say if it's mild, medium, or full bodied!?

Are there any cigar reviews out there that chap your a$$? I kid with my local tobacconist. He HATES CA. And he always smiles and says, oh yeah, "oats, nuts, and berries" Exactly what I'm looking for. Does it taste like tobacco?

I dont know about anyone else, but I cant "taste" a cigar like some of the people who write these reviews. I read some that says a cigar tastes "nutty", "woody", "cedary", "bready", "papery", "chocolaty", etc. I even read one review where the person mentioned that they tasted a hint of "lemongrass" in the cigar. Perhaps I just have crappy tastebuds, but I can only say that a cigar tastes good or bad. As much as I try, I cant get taste all the things these people write about. Go figure.

Yep, it either tastes bad, average, good, or awesome.
Ditto for burn and ditto for draw.

I can't describe much better than that, maybe thats why I don't post reviews...

I agree totally. Wine tasting terms do not apply very well to cigars.

The only tastes I've ever been able to see in a cigar are coffee, leather, cedar, maybe chocolate, and maybe nutmeg or spice (like in Cameroon wrappers)

But overall, tobacco just tastes like tobacco. And until they invent some terms for how tobacco tastes beyond mild, medium, or full-bodied, then trying to describe it is useless.

I have always felt the same way. I have no problem with someone trying to make an assessment of what taste traits or profiles a cigar has, but I really believe sometimes it goes overboard. I recently read a review that actually used the terms gunpowder and metallic in the same review - who goes around tasting metal and gunpowder??? And, why would that be a good taste - sounds more like someone who has held a gun in their mouth at one time or another...scairy!

Taste wise I can usually get chocolate, coffee, cedar, nutty, and spices. But I agree the reviews are stupid. I saw a review for a AF WOA and it supposedly had hints of olive brine and pencil lead...

We should have a contest to find the most ridiculous cigar description.

I would be more concerned about the flavor tasting "Heady." I don't even want to go there.

Woah, Woah, Wait just one second....

You mean you all don't smoke your cigars with an assortment of spices, wood, nuts, animal hide, scrap metal and various weeds and fungus in front of you for reference??? No wonder you're having so many problems...

I think the reviews we read are basically descritions of what the reviewer had for their last meal. Everyone's tastes are different and what is bitter to one person is appealing to others.

How they are able to determine the difference between the tast of a gun barrel and a riding crop is beyond me.

yeah I know its was smooth smoking and not harsh. The only ones I can really taste is the coffee infused and the Ambrosia and the Def Sea. And thats because of the spices and oils they use. Cant help but taste those. But i know what I like and what I dislike.

I guess no cigars taste like tobacco anymore. I wonder if any of the cigar they reviewed yet taste like a woman?
