I finally purchased a 4pk of the Bahia Gold sticks. I have gotten mixed opinions about these cigars. I will get these sticks at 8.75 per which is including s&h. This is about 3-4 dollars less than local. Are they worth it?

Last fall I saw a box of the Bahia Gold Robustos on auction here, and noticed, hell these are gonig for about half the retail, so I bid and won the box. I tell you, I have had three of them so far, kick in the ass they are, I mean pure power, and I confess a little too much even for Mr. Full Flavor as I sometimes call myself. In fact it was so strong I couldn't taste that much flavor, so I said the hell with this, I am letting them sit there now in the humidor and pout, and maybe they will mellow out a bit.

Excellent cigar as far as draw and construction. A little stout but if you let them age in the Dor' they should get milder. I have some that has been stewing for several months now but I refuse to light one up until I feel they have mellowed out somewhat.

I finially smoked one of these infamous cigars last night after dinner. The first thing I noticed was that the draw was very tight. It took at least half of the cigar to loosen up just enough to make the last half enjoyable.

I must admit it's a very tasty cigar, not as strong as I expected (after reading all the hype on this cigar). I would put it on the mild end of the full bodied cigars.

What did impress me about it was the great flavor and aroma.....very, very, very tasty!!! BUT, not at all worth what I paid for it. I bought the robusto in a local mall cigar shop for $8.60 including tax (because I just had to see what all the fuss was about).

If I didn't expereince the draw problems I might rate this cigar as exceptional....but this draw problem seems to be pervasive as many smokers have commented on this drawback (pun intended) on the Cigar Aficionado cigar ratings page.

I will try another just to give it a fair shake.

Great question. I get the maduros for $120 a box (I won't reveal my source due to past issues on this board) and I buy the CAO maduros and the XXO for condiderably less money. ALthough this cigar is a POWERHOUSE of flavors, the two aformentioned are a better value at somewhere close to $4 each. I head up a cigar club of 30+ memebers and although these cigars are well liked they are not as popular as some of the much cheaper brands. CAO, Licenciados, La Gloria Cubana, Bauza, La Perla Habana etc...This cigar still makes it into my top 15 list.

...oh by the way, the draw problem is not uncommon here in NY as well. Funny thing is you only see that with the non-maduro wrapped cigars. Connection???
