Not very good with reviews...but did have my first CAO Criollo (Pato) last night with some Bushmill's Black label. First off, no more Bushmill's...Tullamore Dew or Kapp Castle for me if it's Irish.

But any rate...the CAO. Of course, with age, it will be much better. But it was a very well-constructed stick with a good draw. Very thick lingering smoke. The burn was decent...any problems were probably my fault anyway. As far as flavor...it had a good flavor, but it did not seem distinct. I know I've tasted that many times before (not from CAO). Perhaps it was due to its youth.

At any rate, though this is nowhere near an adequate review, thought I'd at least say that they have much promise. It was not up to snuff with the Black and Gold line, but a solid aquisition nonetheless.

I agree. The problem with CAO is that the bar is set so high. They're all good. The criollo is nice but it has to compete against Brazilia, black, L'anni, ect...in most peoples reviews and has a tough time measuring up.

Initially I wasn't going to respond to this post because I figured I would be in a severe minority. For some reason I just don't care for this cigar. I've tried several of them, aged and unaged, and they still don't do anything for me. As a general rule I like CAO in most any variety but I just can't seem to "catch" the Criollo. Maybe it's just individual taste but I've bid on my last 5-pack of these. I've had a hard time giving up on them because they look like a cigar I would like, i.e., I like the way they look, are packaged, smell and feel, but I'm going to have to accept that I just don't like them. Maybe I'll amble over to the trade board and see what I can get for them.
