I won a bid for 10 Lonewolf Signature Robusto, and I sure wish I had lost. Maybe the fact that I got a 10 pack for $10 should have been a clue. Got them yesterday and lit up after work. The constuction was terrible, there were a couple small holes in the wrapper, the end flaked when I used my hole punch. I have only been smoking quality cigars for about 6 months, so I am not much of an expert, but this cigar had 2 creases along the length of the stick (one on each side). These were not veins, they were creases.

Then there was the major flaw, the draw. It was the hardest draw. It took my all my lung power to get any smoke. I mean, Linda Lovelace would not have been able to get any smoke out of this sucker. The taste was actually good, but not worth all the effort. I tried to "roll" it a bit in my fingers to loosen it up, but all that happend was the wrapper flaked off.

Not sure what I can do with the other 9.

Today I lit up an Excalibur 1066 Dark Night that I got in a sampler and it was wonderfull. Easy draw, full body, cool smoke. It was a pleasure.

Did I just get a bad batch or are these Lonewolf just overrated? Maybe I'll give another a try tomorrow (I only smoke one a day)

Bruce

You've heard of ice cube? and ice tea? you need ice pick! two objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time... Therefore, the ice pick will cause "plugus inturuptus"... Good luck and stab well!

well, you could always try to unload them on the trade board :)

Personally, I don't like to buy cigars I don't have good feelings or trusted opinions about (opinions from fellow smokers who know what I like).

I also know that the manager of my local tobacco shop packages lone wolf's in with his 'value samplers' (a rotating array of 4-5 mediocre cigars sold pre-bagged at the register)

All I'll say, is you should have done a 'Search the Boards' first ...

"or are these Lonewolf just overrated?"

Where did youget that rating? Like Slim said, if you do a search on this board, you will find the truth, and it will set you free.

But with the other 9, you might want to trade with Rickmaven, he's got these rare smokes called Bad Frogs that he might trade with you.

The ones that I tried, and other ones reviewed by friends, were unusually mild, not bad, just tasteless. But there was no trouble with the construction. So this is disconcerting. The Lone Wolves seem to have gotten worse.

Everybody dogs Lone Wolf big time, but to me they're not THAT bad. They're not good, but smokable. All mine are good construction, and have a nice easy draw. I've definately had worse.

Lone Wolfs, along with Bad Frogs, are one of the most hated cigars on these boards. Your experience with them was typical of most ALL Lone Wolfs...they're nasty.

I suggest throwing the remaining 9 you have in your backyard and let them feed the flowerbed...on second though, don't! Those things are such dog rockets, they'd probably kill the plants, lol.

Here's the CBid description of them...

"Rolled in the Dominican Republic, Lone Wolf is very well-known due to its association with celebrity owners and founders Jim Belushi and Chuck Norris. The Signature Series offers a medium-bodied smoke that's not quite as rich as the Lobo Rojo series but nevertheless a quality smoke. Brand rated ‘90’ in Cigar Aficionado’s Cigar Insider."

RATED NINETY BY CIGAR INSIDER!?!? Okay, what the f*ck was Marvin Shanken smoking BEFORE he smoked that Lone Wolf?

I dunno; I kind of liked CA's review of the Lone Wolfs. Been a while but I seemed to recall the phrase, "subtle flavorings of Olive Loaf, with delicate top notes of Kerosene............"
