All,

I just wanted to let my "brothers and sisters of the leaf" know that I go in for surgery this Thursday morning. I will be in the hospital for 4-6 days and then recouping for another two weeks or so. I will be away from the computer for 3-4 weeks.

I am having bilio pancreatic diversion with a duo denal switch which is a form of bariatic surgery where they sew off a portion of my stomach to where it will only hold (4) ounces, and reroute my large intestines to where I only have 7 feet of large intestines from my stomach to the small intestines.

What this means is that I will onnly be able to digest 30% of all food that I eat, 30-40% of all carbohydrates, and 100% of all sugars. I expect to loose approximately 200 pounds in a little over a year or so.

Please say a prayer for me that my surgery goes well and that I recover in good time and a prayer for my wife as she has to take care of me while recovering.

Thank,
Matt

Thoughts and prayers sent Matt. Hey I was just reading the other day about what I guess is a newer procedure like this that is fully adjustable and reversable down the road,it was in the Orange County Register just a few days ago.You may want to ask your doctor about it if you haven't already.

Best whishes JJ

Prayers sent. My Mom had similar surgery last year. Once she healed up and started losing the weight, she started feeling 100% better. All will work out fine, just be patient with it.

Wow, rough week, huh? Well, more prayers are headed your way - had one for Duke last night, and I'll say another prayer on Thursday for you - that everything goes smooth in surgery and in the following time as the pounds fly off! We'll be looking forward to seeing you around soon!
