I see in the new Cigar Insider, the Onyx Reserve Mini Belicoso received a whopping 94 rating! Close behind was the Nestor Reserve Edition 2000 Torpedo Maduro at a 93, both cigars seem to be cheap also, too good to be true?

I had an Onyx Reserve I picked up at a Big Smoke. I really enjoyed this cigar! I have no idea what it retails for; if it's cheap, I'd say it's a steal.

I haven't smoke Onyx for quite a while. I don't think it was a Reserve, but it was a half decent Oscuro if I remember correctly. A 94 rating simply means they spent their advertising wisely...

Never tried the Onyx other than the regular line. Pretty mild maduro, some delicate but nice flavors. The Nestor's are an excellent cigar. I believe I posted about them last year. Very similar to an Excalibur, which I happen to enjoy also. I would highly recommend trying one.

I tired an Onyx a few months ago and thought it was rather mild and without much flavor. Is this a more full-bodied smoke? That's the way it is with some lines of cigars. Ya just never know. Some varieties of a brand can be just great and others can be real dogrockets. What ever happened to consistency?....Cheers....Brent

These new Reserves are a great improvement over the regular line. If I had one to spare (I've got only one) or if they had them locally, one or two would be a great addition to any box pass that may come along....

The Onyx (old) is pretty much crap...Wayyy too mild for my taste...I just had my second Onyx Reserve...Whatta great smoke!...Medium bodied...Tasted like a cross between a refined IT Super Fuerte and an Excalibur 1066...I highly recommend them!..Tail, after trying this incredible smoke, I think it earned its 94 rating!

Correction....I have never had the Nestor RE 2000 line, just the "regular" line. I was refered to them by a cigar shop owner when I was purchasing a few Excalibors, similar tasting cigar but much cheaper.

The Onyx reserve was just released. I'll be getting my first box on Tues. and I'll let ya know. I'm also getting a box of the Nest. Highest rated non-Cuban in 6-7 years.

This cigar was originally going to be the Peruvian Monte maduro. In last minute marketing manuever, they became Onyx Reserve.
