Well, we're off anyway, but we're far more likely to see deer, eagles, hawks, rabbits, porcupines, moose or even bears than wizards, which are even more scarce in the high Rockies than the elusive trout I'll try to catch a few of ...
Yep ... it's that time again ... got the bags packed, the travel humi(s) loaded up, a cutter and lighter sent to myself in the mail c/o my sister, and the camera is at the ready ... just in case I chum another couple of moose on Monday after breakfast the way I did last year (see "not a hummingbird" in old pics).
I'll be celebrating a b'day while there and can imagine no better place to do so ... it's a real touch of heaven and I hope to take a few more pics to share with all of you so you can see what I mean ... frosting on my b'day cake will be that two of my 4 adult sons will also be there from Mon-Thu ... I say frosting, because I haven't seen my oldest since he moved to MA 3 years ago ... he's meeting his younger bro and they're going on a three-day fishing expedition ...
Sat the 23rd, I'm hosting a HERF in Salt Lake City ... not the sort of thing SLC is best known for, but there's more cigar smokers there than one might imagine ... crazily, there's more than any of THEM imagines too ... LOL ... each has been rather delighted to know there are brothers of the leaf in the area and a surprising # of them have not only never been to a herf before, but have never smoked a cigar in the company of another cigar smoker!! Oh, yeah ... it's gonna be a good party alright ... I'll be sure to get pics of that to share with everyone too ...
One more thing before I go ... I note that Slim is also gonna be away on vacation ... may I suggest that in his honor while he's away, someone resurrect SammyDaddy's post of last year entitled "In Honor Of Slim" ... Sammy's poem to start that thread is a CBid classic that will be brand new reading for all the guys who've come on board since then and the humor in this thread is the sort of stuff that I like SO much about this place ...
See y'all later ... smoke a good one and think of me sufferin' out there in the wilderness with no phone, no tv, no radio or newspaper, no traffic, no streetlights, no nothin' 'cept for the critters of the forest ... all you can hear at night is the sound of water running in the stream and so dark that when the moons not up, actual light is discernable from the bazillion stars overhead ... and the air is so pure, I'll be able to detect traces of your cigar smoke and know you've sent birthday greetings ...
thanks
