Etiquette Question

There is a local bar/cigar shop. Is it alright to bring cigars with me to smoke there? I've only been there once to drink and smoke & it wasn't really a planned trip, so I bought a smoke there since I didn't have any with me, and the few other people who lit up after I got there seemed to be buying them there to smoke. However there prices are usually about $1.50 to $2.50 higher a stick than the other shops in the area. However, I'm not sure if they would frown upon outside smokes being brought into their bar/shop.

To kind of describe the set up of the place. There is a small bar area in the front with lounge chairs, and couches, and occasionally live music. Farther back is the smoking area, another bar, pool tables, TVs, etc. Then in another room behind that is the cigar shop.

When I was there it seemed like a nice place, people working treated me well, they poured a strong drink (although price was a little high). Overall I wouldn't mind going back. However, just wanted to get thoughts on what the proper etiquette would be as to bringing outside smokes into a place like this.

Thanks in advance for any input

Why not? They are making money on the drinks anyway.I have brought my own before. If the bar dosn't like it they will let you know

Most of the places I have been to do not care if you bring your smokes with you. Just good PR and usually you will buy something there. they had rather you come in and relax and feel good and have fun.

Have you read any over columns since the daughter took over? She's on CRACK!

Nice joke Raven!

Smoke em if ya got em, but make it a point to buy something when you're in there. They'll close their doors if they can't turn a profit!

I usually buy a cigar from the dealer and bring one of mine for a second smoke. I also buy beer from the dealer. At least once a week I bring the dealer a cigar to try that he doesn't carry. We have a good relationship based on the above routine.

Totally depends on the place, I usually bring my own, but I only bring smokes they do not sell. If I want to smoke something they carry then I'll buy it.

If it's more of a cigar shop than a bar then I will always buy something... If it's a bar with a small humi then I'm not worried about buying from them.

Why didn't you just ask them? You will more than likely buy their overpriced drinks anyway, so all they can say on the cigars is NO, right?
