I picked two of these up at the local shop here in Bloomington.

I decided to smoke one tonight, and was happy to see the cellophane was a dark gold/light brown color, looking like it must've been aging for at least 5 months.

But there was some disappointment. First off, I had to keep fighting a bad, uneven, and almost wavy burn. And two, it really wasn't all that tasty to me.

The burn problem is something I've seen in over Punch RC, so maybe its their construction. But the taste, not really anything to write home about, making me think that the cellophane must've been painted to look that dark (which I've heard of cigar makers doing in order to make their wares look better).

I think the regular Punch in an oscuro wrapper is ten times tastier...and a bit cheaper too!

I've had the same experience. I bought 2 and let 1 sleep for a few months. It made a world of difference. The second one was great! I have about a dozen resting in my humidor.

BTW, we should get together in Bloomington sometime. I'm in Nashville (Brown County) a few times a month.

I have a couple left resting, no burn problems here but I keep mine on the dry side.
I have a problem with the name they use as Punch Rare Corojo has no Corojo leaf in them.
Smoke a lot of Camacho Corojo myself - very tasty!

Smaddox,

I don't know where we could herf though. Bloomington has a smoking ban on all public places and I live in a non-smoking dorm.

Is there a smoke shop near you we could herf at?

I don't know of any cigar friendly places in Brown County, but we are having a HERF here in Indy of the 14th. Can you smoke inside of the cigar shop in Bloomington?

You have to let them rest, then they are good smokes! I never smoke something I just bought from a local store, unless I smoke it there!!

For whatever reason the Punch RC's need at least a years aging before they come around. X

I smoked my first Punch Rare Corojo Rothschild last week and man, it was harsh. I've got two of the Pitas still in my humie; guess I'll take the previous advice and let 'em sit for awhile.

Several months ago, after not smoking for a month, I tried a couple of these (rothschild size), liked them, and bought a box of 50. Since then, I have been real disappointed. I gave about 20 or so to my brother, and have smoked 10, including one yesterday. I really want to like these sticks, but I get absolutely NO taste out of them now. It's funny, because when my bro was smoking one, it smelled great, but it tastes no where near the way it smells. Oh well....I can always give him the rest of the box if they don't get any better with age. I just can't understand it, because so many people rave about them.
