Okay, here we go.

I'm not sure which shape I got, but it was a square-pressed, about 5 inches and 50 gauge. Looks great, with a nice dark brown wrapper, and very firm. It burns very nice and is a slower burn then usual. Good smelling smoke.

The flavor however is decent, not anything to brag about. It tasted a little young, and not aged enough. Maybe some time in my humidor would of helped it. The flavor is a litttle complex, but there was a lingering uneasiness to it for me. It is said to be medium to full bodied, and I thought it was more on the full bodied side. It's a nice smoke but for the price, I'd rather smoke a Black Pearl.

But, I won't lose all hope. It does have potential, so I'll buy one or two sticks and leave it in my humi for a bit. If someone wants to try one, maybe we can set up a trade or something.

Robby, I have never tried a XXO maduro. Can't find any of them near me. And yes, I was a little underwhelmed, but it was a good smoke.

reviving an old one:

I was just in my local shop picking up a couple of the XXO maduros (as robby said, a very tasty cigar) and the owner, whom I've gotten to know pretty well says "You know, they're coming out with a new line." I replied that I had heard folks talk about them and would like to get my hands on one. He leans over and says "they're crap... I've got a box and they're supposed to sell for $15+ but there is no way I'll put this poor quality product at this price on my shelves." And then he reaches behind the counter, fishes out a box and says "here, on the house." Wow, very nice but I guess I'll be biased when I smoke it (tonight?). I bet he'll let go of the rest for cheap. If others are interested I can ask. I'll post my thoughts later

I'll trade you as many bellicoso’s as you can get your hands on... Of course for some inferior sticks since they suck! Oh yeah, Billy Smith things they’re pretty good too, but what does he know he only get's to smoke Habanos! Bawahahahahahah

No reason to take it personal. Like I said, I was given one free by a shop owner that didn't like them and just wanted to be rid of them. I really like the yellow labels, which is what I was buying, but I still haven't smoked the titanium. I may like it or I may agree with the shop owner. But, gosh, if you and Billy Smith like them only an insane person could disagree.

Robby, I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say.

I too really like the XXO maduros. That's what I went in there to buy. I recently sent one to Penquin as a bonus stick in our Bucanero trade.

The cigar that the shop owner didn't like, and I am reserving judgement on, is the new Titanium. He gave me a free one from the sample box they gave him at the RTDA last month. These are supposed to retail above $15. If you've had one it was from somebody that obtained it at the recent trade show or just very recently got in their new shipment.

ps He's got boxes of the old XXO maddies that run $7-12, but said he plans on closing out the entire line (read: soon to be blue light special). If you aren't able to get ahold of them anymore, i'd be happy to get some for you

yellow label XXO maduro rocks. I haven't had the tit's yet, but haven't seen good feedback on them. I think if a cigar is rare and expensive, it should be momentous. Sorry, I misunderstood.

Wer,if these are the Yellow Band XXO's that say "By Tony Borhani" on the bottom of the band,I would be interested when they went to closout.Keep me in mind buddy... ;0) BTW if they just say XXO I believe they are the new release although I haven't tried the new ones I know the old ones rocked!

TIA,JJ

Sorry JJ,

I've read that the Tony Borhani are the best. Never had one personally.

What I grabbed are the newer releases (not brand new though) by Edward Nikka. The new brand new silver band Titanium is also by Nikka.

Sorry JJ,

looks like my message got kicked backed. My email is very grumpy from home (free campus dial-up but very fast T1 lines at work). Plus, all the students are back and probably downloading Britney Spears albums, thus, making things even crankier.

Send me an email and I'll be better able to get back to you:
