Does anyone know of a good place to get some custom label cigars. I am getting married next year and it would be cool to hand out cigars with my own label. I found one place, from a custome label cigar that was give to me and they want $150 for the sticks and another $100 for the label. I should add that the cigar sucked and I would have a tough time paying $1 let alone $6 each. Any ideas, let me know.

Thanks!

GB,

I printed up my own when my son was born. Came out pretty good too. Also, I could put the labels on 2 different cigars - Handed out the good stuff to the cigars smokers and the $1.00 bundled sticks to the rest. I will put a pic up in the picture post to give you an idea. Get some good paper,an exacto knife and some glue stick and your all set.

GB,

Nat has a great idea. In addition, you should be able to get the kind of glue cigar mfgs use on their bands. I've seen it before, but don't remember where. Supposedly, it is different than just regular glue. But of course, if you are very careful, regular glue will work.

I believe that cigar makers use a sweet-gum natural adhesive for the bands. Also if I'm not mistaken you can use fruit pectin to repair a wrapper flaw on your cigar. In theory if it will work to repair a tobacco leaf wrapper it should work to glue together a paper cigar band----- I think. You shouldn't have too much of a problem finding fruit pectin in your local supermarket in the Baking Goods Aisle. Usually it comes in two forms powdered and liquid.
---- Sidenote: I have and have used the powdered pectin to repair some cracked wrappers with good results! A little mixed with water goes a long way.... I'll have to find my jar and try it out on an old band.
Last thing: you should be able to find some non-toxic adhesives at your local Staples or Office Depot if you can't find the fruit pectin.
Good luck,
----Tony

Thanks for the ideas, but I am hoping to be able to get them done a little more professionally. I am afraid if I do it, they will look hacked or I will end up destroying some decent smokes.

As printer who made my own wedding package, I have to say that you can do extremly well on your own, or having a buddy with just about any graphic program fix you up. Any small press house can print and cut(straight, not die cut that cost more) the labels no problem.

What kind of cost should I expect to have them printed at a local press? I wouldn't need more than one sheet, so it really wouldn't be worth it for such a small run.
