If the tobacconist has a well regulated humidor, I would say yes. My local shop has a well regulated humidor, with a huge inventory. The owner tells me he likes to age the cigars for a minimum of 6 mo. before he opens the box to sell the sticks. This also means he has many sticks that are out of production. Unfortunately he told me I bought him out of 858 S.G. before they were ready, in his opinoin, over a year ago, and he had none hiding. But on the other hand, the short story, I smoked today, had ploom all over it, from a freshly opened box.

You've got an awesome tobacconist there Homebrew. Shelf life does indeed matter and I too have found some nice aged, ploomed gems this way. Also, allowing a cigar to age a minimum of six months makes a world of difference. Granted, it has to have been made with some decent tobacco...if you age a dog rocket all you get is an older dog rocket...

He does have great cigars, though a little pricey. I paid $6.49 for that short story, but when I saw the ploom, I just had to have it.

There's a local shop with a nearly full box of Legion churchills at 10 bucks a pop. I thought they were covered in plume, turns out it was just dust.
