I've read through about a thousand old threads in the past week trying to learn about cigars and good deals and have heard about so many different brands that my head is spinning right now (a good kind of spinning though). Being a newbie and being very cheap I was wondering what everybody's favorite cheap cigar is (cheap being $3 and under). I know that many of you do not like to talk about your favorite cheap ones b/c it makes the prices go up on cbid, but please open your hearts for one post and help a tightwad rookie out.
Thanks so much for any advice,
Owen D

I like...
---less than $1/each----
Hoja de Nicaragua (Consuls)
Alteza
Cremosa Cubana
----$2-$3 each-------
Cupido Criollo
H.Upmann
5 Vegas

But then again, I won some 5-packs of CAO Cammie Napoleons yesterday for $14 each (making each cigar cost less than $3 before shipping). But that was pure luck.

Hope this helps,
Billy

Too bad you missed the Profesor Sila blowout. Even so, they are a great deal on the CI website for $30 a box until they are gone.

You can regularly find La Perla Habana Coronas for under $3.00 and it is a very, very good go to smoke. Medium in body, with a very good taste profile. It is a premium in my book but can typically be picked on Cbid for $8 - $12 a five pack.

Sancho Panza's are pretty good for the $... and various Indian Tabac's can often be had for a little more then a $1 each for five packs...

The Indian Tabac Lmt. Reserve and Pirate's Gold are two cheapies that I've never had any problems with and have always had great taste and construction.

A cheap brand-name premium out there is Punch. Their regular line goes for pennies, and I think it tastes better than their other lines (except Gran Puro, cuz its the ****). My favorite has to be a Punch rothschild in a double maduro wrapper. Cheap and gooood.

The regular Hoyo de Monterrey is another cheap name-brand, but I find that they are kinda bland.

I know this isn't the answer you were seeking, but it IS the right answer ... YOU'VE got to decide what the best under $3 smoke is for yourself ... you cannot go by anyone else's opinion UNLESS you know how that persons taste and yours match up ...

For example, there is one VERY popular brand of cigar on the market that most guys here think is great which I absolutely will not touch because I think they're horrible ... simiarly, one of my personal favorites is less than popular with a great many guys ...

Or put another way (with apologies to all of you who're sick of seeing this illustration) you might like cucumbers on your salad ... but if you'd taken my advise before you tried them, you'd never have tasted them, because I think they're absolutely the most vile food on earth ... I can't even pick them off a salad and be happy because I can still taste their flavor on the leaves they touched ...

So ... if you really love cucumbers, are you gonna trust my taste in cigars ?? IMO, what you should do is try them ... I know, there's way too many to try in a week or a month ... or even in a year ... don't let that worry you ... just keep chipping away at it ... buy 5-packs and samplers, make some trades, get into the birthday clubs, box passes or whatever that will let you try as wide a variety as possible for the least $$ investment ... but along the way, just be sure to remember which cigars you like and which you don't ... buy more of the ones you like and not the ones you don't ...

cccbus ... if you don't try 'em, you WON'T know ... my point exactly ... and I overlooked mentioning the part about meeting all the characters ... that really is the best part ... there's a LOT of really great guys here and the friendships that come from interacting with them are as good as it gets in this life ...

I have to agree that the Indian Tabac LTD Reserve is a very good cigar. I usually smoke the buffalo, it's a churchill i believe. Very good smoke.

I agree with the Indian Tabac - I like em too. Others are Mayorga Maduro, JR Ultimates, or la Perla Habana.
