OK guys I'm a newbie and have tried to search the archives for answers....
Smoking a Fuente 858 Flor Fina and drinking OJ w/ a large measure of gin.

I'm Suffering from a nasty head cold.. maybe kennel cough :)... I have a Saint Bernard bitch and six 12 day old pups from a shelter with kennel cough here.
I rescue homeless Saints in my "spare time".
My ??? are:
Cameroon wrappers: I appreciate that they are moist and "something special". My daily is a Fuente Cubanito.
I've noticed when I smoke into the head they tend to crack and start to unwind.. is this normal???

I assume a "herf" is a get together and smoke cigars... what is the whole word and it's origin.

thanks in advance wise ones,
Sara

My question to you is, why just rescue homeless Saints? what about homeless bull mastiffs, or schnauzers. Its just like that at Petsmart today. they asked me to donate to the rescue collie fund. I have a dog and i adopted him from the humane society and did not go there under the pretence of getting a brindle boxer/lab mut. I got him because I wanted a dog and wanted to get one in a way that was humane whatever it is they had. Why pic and choose. Do you pass by the other homeless dogs in search of St. Bernards?

Is Georgia overrun with St. Bernards?

Mr. Mean,

I'm understanding your "handle" would call you a PITA at my practice.
I also work with Bassett Hound rescue and an all breed/mix breed rescue group. Including cats. Saints are a personal interest. I have a young Great Dane born deaf and blind brought to me by dane rescue as a "smooth coated Saint".
We are caring for approximately 20 saints, and 25-30 other homeless animals at this time.
Pat on your back for rescuing a dog.

Very good. No PITA here. I'll drink milk and hunt deer and dove till I die. It just amazes me sometimes the bias some have to help one breed and not another, ie the collie group I saw today. Bigots of the dog world.
Sorry I don't have the answers to your questions. A fare newby myself. Recommnednding to you the La Perla Maduro Figurado. Pure heaven.

I'll help you shoot, clean and eat dove and clean and eat deer.. will only shoot them if they are already injured.
Many rescue folks are "out there" I help all of them I can but "can't save them all.

Hi Sara --

We've had 2 dogs & 4 cats from shelters who've lived with us. BTW, box pressed cigars will be square or rectangular in cross section. Think of overfilling box with soft round cigars and then compressing them to get rid of the air in between. It's probably not how or why they do it, but you can visualize the process and end result. Drop me your e-mail address [email protected].

I love to 'copy and paste' ... the first question:

The most obvious of the three cigar components, the wrapper is the easiest to discern for most cigar smokers. Industry experts claim that up to 75% of the flavor of a cigar comes from the wrapper! These leaves should be thick and oily feeling, smooth and uniform in color, and with small veins running through the leaf. Flaky, dry, and thin wrappers are the bane of cigar enthusiasts and can ruin the overall pleasure of the event. Although wrappers are actually categorized by country of origin, most cigar smokers identify wrappers by color.

A.M.S. or American Market Standard wrappers are light green in color and offer a sweet sour flavor that is akin to green apples. Also known as Double Claro, Jade, and Candela, these wrappers are primarily grown in The United States and were extremely popular during the origins of the cigar industry in the USA. Ironically, even though this wrapper is uniquely American, this leaf is unpopular today.

E.M.S. or English Market Standard wrappers are rich brown in color and are truly the industry standard today. Made popular by English smokers in the 19th century, this wrapper is also known for its variant names such as Claro (somewhat lighter), Colorado (somewhat richer in color), and Natural; a catch-all term for this category. The best E.M.S. wrappers are grown in the Vueleta Abajo region in Cuba, Connecticut, and Cameroon.

Maduro wrappers are now very popular and can be easily spotted by their dark brown to black colors. This color is achieved by allowing the temperature during fermentation to surpass 165 F. This process requires are thicker wrapper to achieve a rich, sweet, smooth flavor that is popular with more experienced smokers looking for more flavor. Other grades of this leaf are known as Double Maduro and Oscuro. The best maduro wrappers come from Connecticut and the San Andreas region of Mexico.

The second question: What is a 'herf'? I believe it started in England ... the un-official word of ASC is Herf. Herf is a unique part of speech. It can be correctly used as a noun, a verb, an adjective, an adverb, an infinitive, a prefix, a suffix and an explicative.
The arcane word "herf" first entered the ASC lexicon on November 21, 1996, and was quickly elevated to frenetic and common use by ASCers. The Prince of Skeeves exposed ASC to the word herf in a casual posting to the group... however it was ASCers, as a budding collective, who took the word and made it divine.
Herf is now virulently spreading to worldwide common use as hip cigar parlance. Check out this website for more info ... The un-official word of ASC is Herf. Herf is a unique part of speech. Box-pressed only means it was pressed into a box shaped mold, so you have a square cigar. A lot of people, including myself, like the feel of the box pressed cigar ...

Mr. Mean. When Sara said PITA, I think she meant "Pain in the A*s", not "People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals".
(Slimboli still holds the title of "The King of Cut and Paste" LOL)

SESDVM,

I assume by your post that you just help mammals. Do you ignore the plight of the dolphins drowning in tuna nets? Do you turn a blind eye to the millions of mosquitoes murdered as "minor inconvenienced" to humans? Don't you realize that human children go hungry and cold everyday????!!!! Corruption is rampant in our nations capital!!!! What are you doing about that? Heart disease and Cancer are the leading causes of death in adults in the U.S., yet research groups are underfunded. Kudzu is overrunning countless indigenous plant species right here in Georgia while an entire state turns a blind eye. Noise pollution is rampant in downtown Atlanta. The average Iraqi is suffering from the UN embargo.

Shame on you SESDVM, for ignoring these burning issues! Shame on you for passing over these issues while treating animals. Who gave you liscence to pick your own battles? How dare you limit the time you have to do good for a select group or groups, while there are other issues that could be identified as important by some?

Elitist!!!!!

Unklebill. Tuna just don't taste the same since they started using dolphin-safe nets. I personally like a little dolphin mixed in with my tuna.
