Slim Poll

There are many of you whom I respect that found this post to be juvenile at best. Well I must admit I can hardly blame you. My intent was essentially rhetorical in nature. I was certain of most of your answers before I asked the questions. I had hoped to show the few naysayers where the people here stand.

Well, whether it matters to many of you or not, I feel my purpose has been served. It seems obvious that most of us here have much respect for Slim.

One of my first posts on this board was respectfully "slapped" down by Slim. Since I hadn't taken the time to learn the rules, I had to learn the hard way. Within a week or so, Slim kindly took some of his time to help me with some questions and, thanks partly to him, I quickly grew a fondness for this forum and many of the people on it.

For anyone who cares, here is my post that prompted Ken (ky70) to request a poll...

"Well seniority counts in most of life. Slim seems to truly care about this site and most of the people on it. He does know quite a bit about cigars and in regards to people like you, most of us are in agreement. I think if that were not the case, if you could garner enough support, I think Slim would take a back seat for the good of the majority.

Keep up the good work, Slim."

Well, sorry if I offended anyone's intelligence regarding Slim. I had a feeling this post poll might be received in this manner and quite frankly, you played right into my hands (Rick, SteveS etc.) I'm glad that he himself understands the motivation behind this post.

For those of you that missed it, Slim's support is so strong that a poll was deemed unnecessary.

Good day.

My two cents is that Slim definitely knows a lot about cigars, he definitely has strong opinions which are usually right. He sometimes could use more tact in expressing his opinions. I defy anyone to argue any one of these points. And oh, btw, he is a BOTL. and p.s., this description could fit well for many other posters here. Slim is just an easy target because he’s vocal.

Guys,
I may be missing something here, but I think some things are being misunderstood/misrepresented:
1) That I have an axe to grind for Slim - I was simply responding to a thread that someone else created and I thought it was poking fun at Slim which I admittedly have taken part in
2) That I am the architect of this - As I said, I was responding to a thread and in particular a comment that the majority of the people here are in favor of Slim's contributions to the forums. I was playing "Devil's advocate" in stating that how do we know that the majority are in favor unless an actual poll was taken.
3) I ask that you read the original post (entitled "Slim Boli" in the Cigars related forum) to add context to this conversation. Please read the thread from start to finish. Also, please read comments from my post earlier in this thread. I do stand by my words and no malice was intended.

Lastly, I apologize to you Slim. The fact that malice was unintended on my part is irrelevant if you feel "injured" by recent conversations. For contributing to a situation that you are not at ease, I sincerely apologize.

Best regards,
Ken

What choner said, and even more succinctly, what jjohnson28 said. And what merlin9052 is worth repeating. Finally, I believe the comments which most accurately reflect my sentiments were made by the good Dr. Maddvibe…

ky70 said this --- I apologize if this deemed as a bit much, but with all the dishing out that Slim gives, I know he can take a little ribbing (as can I). ---

It is my honest opinion ky70 can take very little ribbing. For Petes Sake man, its a Cigar Smokers Forum!!

Cigsmoke, LMAO --- Now that was one offensive arshole. In fact I still think his real name is Mark Gabor.

Redneck1,
Please point out to me how you determined that I am unable take "a little ribbing". In my mind, I have yet to receive very much ribbing, but I do welcome all informed criticisms.

I have no problem being accountable for my actions or my words, but I will always call attention to instances in which I feel I am being misrepresented.

IMO, you can only have a complete picture of my “actions” by reading all of my words associated with this topic….and that’s one good thing about C-Bid not having an edit option. My words appear (grammatical mistakes and all) exactly as I wrote them.

Redneck1,
If your impression of the chain of events is that I put someone up to posting "my thread" then I must respectfully disagree with you and as a man's man (figuratively speaking of course), I take exception to the notion.

P.S. You've repeated that this is a Cigar Forum.....I can be a little slow at times (as I'm sure you'd agree) so please explain the significance of that statement...and technically, this is the miscellaneous section of a cigar forum.

Regards,
Ken

kyjelly, er, a, 70

I'm gonna cut through the crap here and let you know what I'm talking about.

The first line from your buddy said.

"Well Ken (ky70) on the latest digisle post asked me to take this poll so I am."

My thoughts are "Why didn't this guy post his own poll?" Surely a 'man's man' would..??

In regards to your question about my "It's a Cigar Smokers Forum" statement.

My meaning. I don't take things I read here very serious and can't believe anyone else would.

I do like Slimboli and don't like to see him disrespected. That is why I posted.

Before I leave this thread for good I have one question for you.

Are you here to battle wits and make enemies or talk about cigars and make friends?

Later,
Mike

Redneck1,
I won't lower myself to your level by coming up with a creative variation of your username (although quite a few hilarious ones come to mind). To answer your last question, I am here to make friends and discuss my love of cigars and all things associated with them.

To clarify another one of your misrepresentations, I have no association with anyone involved and to refer to someone as my buddy would be inaccurate. It seems clear that you've never read the original post in the Cigar Forum, but why let the whole story get in the way of your well thought out opinions.

I think we both would agree that our discussion has probably gone far enough, and as I like to say when I polish off a good smoke, "Him dead".

Lastly, at times I do enjoy a battle of wits and I do not equate that with making enemies (and I’ve actually enjoyed reading your posts) and I'm obligated to respond to any misrepresented facts that relate to me.

Best regards,
Ken

Oh hell... might as well add my 2 cents worth (which is about twice as much as it is worth)...

1) Don't care how Slim handles things anymore that he would care about me handling things.

2) Never recogonized him as being any more of the "unofficial" monitor any more than anyone else on the board

3) Haven't been around here as long as some (Slim and Rick included) but longer than several I see posting on this thread

As someone else pointed out earlier in this thread... this is a pretty dumb set of questions although I see no disrespect for Slim. But since I also participated on this thread I guess it would put me in the same dumb category and I'm probably more stupid for doing so.

Having said this I mean no disrespect to Slim or anyone else on the board. It's just a cigar smokers forum!

Lighten up and light up!

John

"The first line from your buddy said."

ky is not my "buddy". I don't know Ken at all so I have no real opinion of him.
