Bastages...

Well , I am reasonable sure that Mrs. Dragon and I are still going to spark up a stogie while strolling on the beach in the moonlight.

I say, let them eat cake, with cigar ashes on top!

guess that cigar I had in August while sitting on the deck at Ideal Bar and Grill could be the last I'll have there ... too bad, it was a nice experience

Freakin', hipocritic liberals. I haven't heard about this. Most likely this is a city ordinance. I'm at Pleasure Point which is considered East Side (way cooler). Still in Santa Cruz County, but not in the city. Capitola Village, where I tend bar should be O.K.

SteveS,

Ideal's sister co., Zelda's in Capitola Village should still be O.K. They have a better deck anyway.

It will be okay to smoke a joint on the beach, just not anything made of tobacco.

O.K. I'm busted. I'm really the men's room attendant.

Yeah, I was out with back trouble the night Beat came over.

Beat,
It is because of you that I'm giving out my number these days. I gave it to Slim yesterday. He's a Silicon Valley cat too.

For the record... I did email Beat a day before he came over, but he didn't check it. Stupid, freakin' drummers. Let that be a lesson to everyone.

Only a stupid drummer would think that I'M a good bass player. Adequate is as strong a word as I would choose, but thanks anyway, Beat. = )

C'mon now, it aint all that bad. Hey, compared to what we have heard auditioning for us lately, you would be at the top of the list.

But hell, what do I know, im just a stoopid drummer that got lucky to get a gig.

I believe this was because of the cigarette butts that littered the beach. However, if that were truly the case, they would ban all drinks and food as well.

This is just another case of the government reacting to the sensitive few.

^ Yoy right, cigarette butts were the issue at first, I think they had a clean-up day or something. But(no punn intended)now they have taken it a step further.

My band played for a "Pack Your Trash" event on the point. They do several a year on the East side from Capitola to Seabright ave (Barrier for East/West sides). It kinda sucks that those who live here have to clean up the $hit that the Valley Kooks leave behind (present company excluded). Still, I've never heard of a call for a smoking ban on the East side, though.

O.K. I forgot, their coverage area is slightly smaller. They normally go from 7th (East side of yacht harbor/Crow's Nest Restaurant/O'neil Beach) East to 41st Ave where Capitola begins.

Hey guys - sure sounds like a drag that the city council decided that strange law...
It is however funny to see a drummer mention a good bass player..
Must be the one in a million who isn't a true flake..
Ohh wait If I read this thread right he did disapeere on the drummer once allready nuff said.. hehe..

Yeah, I had to hand you both a bit of stage humor..
Im just droppin in to read whats up over here.

I would be one of those "other guys in a band" at least when I did play..I kinda retired due to the "environment" of the places we travelled..

Here is what I saw too SP,

Solana Beach, California, the small seaside town in San Diego County, will ban smoking on its 1.4 miles of beach starting Nov. 20. The ban was prompted by high school students, who first asked the city to declare September a nonsmoking month on the beaches and in parks, then pushed for a permanent ban. It was unanimously supported by the five-member City Council. First-time offenders can face a $100 fine.
Sucks! I thought the beach (distance of sandy area from high tide to low tide) was considered imminent domain even from land owners?

I read that too, RR, in yesterday's Santa Cruz Sentinal. This article claimed that it was only Solana that was doing it. Thanks to those jerks, some in Santa Cruz are considering it, but many council members say they are not.

Still, better get over here and smoke at Ideal while you can. You never know.

RknRmnd,
You need to understand the term your using.

"Eminent Domain" is the process whereby a person's rights to land are extinguished by the public or a public agency.
