I'm having no small amount of difficulty expressing my reactions to this ... somehow, "bull****" just doesn't quite cover it ... this story is proof, if such were needed, that common sense flew out the window years ago and has gone somewhere to die ...

I still dont understand how someone can't see that "The right to bear arms" doesn't translate to "The right to carry a firearm."

How can we outlaw firearms? Now, I know he is being arrested because it was unlicensed… but from what I understand it’s near impossible to license a firearm in New York.

To quietly NOT prosecute the elderly victim of the mugging in this story is in no way translating "The right to bear arms" to "The right to carry a firearm."

Steve,

Maybe I didn't make myself clear, or maybe I don't understand your reply. What are you saying?

Sylance.. I dont think Steve can make a point. In a previous post, his response to my griping about Affirmative Action was that I was not proficient in English. He is not logical..

Buffy,
Wrong Steve.

I could chastize you and say something like "not only can't you write, but you can't comprehend what you read either".

But I won't...

Now Charlie,
Where in that article, did it say anything about the ACLU????????? I'm sorry the facts, are not in evidence. This is precisely why I am about to quit posting, in the Misc. board, and maybe on cbid in general. Noone here seems to support their arguements. And if they do, it is from sources, which are partisen in nature.
The Mugger was not on the scene, when the police arrived, so the headline was biased. I mean "Mugger Goes Free, Victim Arrested" That gives you the preconcieved notion that the police let the mugger go, and arrested the victim for defending himself. Myself, I agree with you, that Gun Control laws are probably not constitutional. Just quit trying to argue, without unbiased facts, to back up you arguement. I think the victim needs a gun saftey course, to learn how to use the pistol, correctly. Then we would not even be reading this thread. Another thing, if you are carrying cash, don't get into an elevator, with someone, which appears threatening.

P.S. I think it would be better for me, if I quit reading these Misc. Posts. Since there are very few, which contained unbiased arguements. More propaganda spewed here, than arguements based in fact.

Homebrew,

You can't quit posting on the misc. board just because some people don't support their arguments or only use sources that are partisan in nature. You can leave for a number of reasons but not for a perceived offense that you also are guilty of committing. That would be quite a double standard.

After all, wasn't it you that stated "I'm just saying, you take away the white supremacists, and the confederate sympathizers, and Bush's support is non-existant, in the south." In one broad sweeping motion you portrayed anyone in the southern states as being a white supremist if they voted for Bush. I do not recall you supporting this argument in any way, even from partisan sources. This makes you guilty of the exact same offense that you are now citing as your reason for leaving the miscellaneous board. I don't recall anyone leaving the board when you didn't support your argument.

To support my argument, here's the thread:

http://www.cigarbid.com/...geDisplay=0000000015445

Look at it this way, they're just following your example of not supporting arguments! Don't live in glass houses!

By the way, to have an unbiased argument, would both sides already agree on the issue?

The issue that has totally got lost in this whole mugging story is that the old man needs to be locked up to prevent bigger problems later in life. Now that he has had this incident, he will get fed up with NY and pack up and move to West Palm Beach, Florida. Once there, he will buy a large Cadillac and menace Florida motorists daily. Come the next presidential election, he will be confused by a butterfly-style ballot and vote for Pat Buchanan. Locking him up now will prevent Pat Buchanan from gaining any more votes in the 2004 election. I could be wrong on this theory.
He could move to Fort Lauderdale!

Your right, to a degree, Hockeydad.
But you did not read that thread correctly, or are assuming that I meant something else.
" After all, wasn't it you that stated "I'm just saying, you take away the white supremacists, and the confederate sympathizers, and Bush's support is non-existant, in the south." In one broad sweeping motion you portrayed anyone in the southern states as being a white supremist if they voted for Bush."
I did overstate my case, By saying it would be "non-existant" But what I was meaning, was Bush could not carry Arkansas without the white Supremicist vote. My Bad. Thank you for pointing that out, so I could clarify my position on that statement. And you are right, I didn't site my sources, for that info. It is just an opinoin. I guess I stepped on my @ick again. LOL
