First thing is BE GENTLE. Carefully press the punch into the end of the cigar and remove it gently so as not to break the cap. And above all BE GENTLE.

As you insert it, give it a little twist, but as divnmyk said be gentle! You can read the same advice in this months Playboy Advisor... but they are not talking about cigars!

The only problem with the Xikar is they charge like $300 to ship them. :-)

Push/twist the punch into the cigar all the way. Only the wrapper/binder combination on the cap will pull off. the filler stays put. Unless your smoking a Tamboril pieceof**** cigar, whereby the short filler continuously falls out of the punched hole while you smoke.

be real careful to make sure that you keep the parts tightly screwed together. They come apart fairly easy. Especially the cap. Once it comes off and is in your pocket it will get dented and be useless. I'm on my second one

Hell, gater the Tamborils explode when you use a cigar cutter on them, and then they expand while you smoke them........crap, that is what they are-crap!

I thought the same thing ( I got mine for $25) but it is worth it. Make sure you go to Xikar.com and register that weapon. :-) It'll warranty it for life and you'll get a free leather sheath for it.
