That dark brown gel is very rare, and is referred to by the cigar rollers as "umbatromogombo", which of course is Spanish for "that which causes deformities". This stuff is normally removed when the tobacco is harvested, or if it gets missed, the rollers are supposed to get rid of it and burn it immediately. They say it has a delayed reaction to anyone that smokes it, causing swelling, blisters, slurred speech, hair loss, blindness, impotence, and, in extreme cases, growth of additional extremities.
