didn't i mention that time after time. you forgot to mention all of halliburton's contracts were no bid contracts.

don't forget, cheney is receiving differed compensation. i think it is illegal to use your political position for personal profit, but i may be wrong.

Being experts, what company capable of handling the job would you suggest?

Anything but a specific qualified company name is not an answer.

BTW, I am affiliated not with Halliburton’s.

Rant mode on...

Halliburton built port facilities in Viet Nam during the LBJ administration and his wife had stock in the company. I guess that was ok ‘because they were Democrats. As I have said here before, the Democrats are frustrated by the success of the current Bush presidency so they grasp at anything.

IMO, the Democrats don’t want to be seen as hating the military like the Viet Nam days, so they crap all over the employees of US contractors working in Iraq. While they are not in the same danger as our troops, they are working in a place too dangerous for the UN and many other organizations.

Rant mode off...

Since nobody wanted to reply to Gene363's question regarding Halliburton's competitors, I'll supply a few. Actually, there are only a few and I've even included their stock tickers in case someone wants in on the action.

Halliburton (HAL)
Bechtel (Privately owned)
Fluor (FLR)
Schlumberger (SLB)

and to a much lesser extent due to sheer size of the companies:

Parsons Group (Privately owned)
Foster Wheeler (FWLRF)
Baker Hughes (BHI)
GlobalSantaFe (GSF)
Nabors Industries (NBR)
Weatherford International (WFT)

By the way, Cheney sold all his Halliburton shares during the presidential election of 2000, and he has promised to give to charity any profit from Halliburton stock options he still owns. Check CNN to verify this statement.

Now since Cheney isn't making any money off any perceived Halliburton deals, I wonder who is? The answer might be everyone including those who like to complain about it. Check your 401K. Check your mutual funds, check your city, state, or federal pension. Check your company pension. Find out the details of how the money is invested. You just might find out that you own more shares of Halliburton than ****** Cheney!

If anyone wants to volunteer for the gravytrain, Halliburton has many job vacancies for Iraq. Just go to http://www.halliburton.com/careers/careers_kbr.jsp and search.
