Do you know what happened this week back in 1850?

California became a state.

The state had no electricity.

The State had no money.

Almost everyone spoke Spanish.

There were gun fights in the streets.

So basically, it was just like California today (except the women had real boobs).

According to the quote book "Whole Grains" the source is Dwight D. Eisenhower: "After all, things are more like they are today then they ever have been before." A great quote that I like to throw into a business meeting just to see if anyone is really listening.

I heard an executive once tell what he swore was a story of being in a board meeting where no one seemed to be listening ...

When he saw no one was really paying attention, he moved that they form a work party to take shovels and wheelbarrows to go into the hills and move a prominent mountain to a new location out beyond town ...

He said the motion was seconded and he asked that all in favor say "aye" ... it got approved ...
