Beetles. Got 'em. Never had 'em before, but I dug deep into my coolerdor and saw holes. Lots of them. Even saw many of the little buggers themselves. Fat from feasting themselves on my precious stogies. I never had to do this, but I am attempting the freezing thing. They are all in zip lock baggies, in a tupperware, in my freezer. Plan is to wait three days then transfer to fridge for 2 days, then room temp for one day, then back into the coolerdor. Am I missing anything? Will this work? Am I doomed? HELP!

Make sure your thoroughly wipe down your collerdor with a towel soaked in warm water...Make sure there's no remnants of the little buggers in there...They're pretty tiny, so definitely make usre...Your freezing method sounds good to me...Good luck! (NOTE TO SELF: NEVER ACCEPT CIGARS FROM TAILGATER...lol)

Rick ... it's exactly as it implies. It's an Igloo (or similar type) cooler set up with a humidification device like a humidor ... hence, coolerdor!

Don't worry Keith, I'm going to wait until I see the results before I ship any. Also, it's getting cooler here in New England, so it will be easier to maintain the right temps to prevent this. Rick, a "coolerdor" is a humidor made out of a cooler (Igloo, coleman, etc). It functions as well as expensive wooden ones, but is MUCH cheaper, er, less expensive. Shoot me an email at [email protected] and I'll give you the details. Also, you'll have to wait for the smokes I was going to send. I truly want to be rid of this problem 100% before I spread the plague. Not to worry, though, the little buggers were quarentined to one section of the 'dor.

Tailgater, I found some of the little buggers on a 5 pack of CI Cameroon seconds #2. Needless to say I inspect all the cigars from Cbid with alot more care before I put them in the humidor. I did send the buggy cigars back to Cbid for a replacement (thanks again Trish) the new ones didn't have any bugs that I could see, but those sticks are in the tupperware quarantine until I have some yard work.

I hear those little bugs get in your beard and you have to wash your clothes and sheets and use k19 liquid and..oh this is the cigar board, not the health post. Sorry!

I understand some of the humidification gels have an insecticide in them. Does anyone have any info on this?

BILL: propylene glycol. if this is new to you email me and i'll send you back a great article that i copied from some web site. since i read it i have put all my credos and various other devices aside, made my own humidifiers and don't really have to check the hygrometer, which the article tells you how to dial in properly. the hygrometers can be as high as + or -
5 %. [email protected].

I hope you first sealed your smokes from the dehumidified air that a freezer produces. Don't want to "freezer burn" your cigars.
