you might not reread your post about the evelio. i got a box of torpedos. the wrapper is the finest and smoothest i have ever seen or felt. it is as smooth as the proverbial baby's ass. i smoked it as though i did not have 24 left. it has been a long time since i found, or you did, anything that was as good as a monte #5 or a monte "A". i thank you for suggesting this cigar. it is in my monte humidor along with the "A"'s that cost almost as much for two as the box of evelios. cbid, put these on auction. guys, until they do, find them someplace and you are in for a real treat.

Subject: Evelio by Nestor Plasencia

I just got a 25 ct. box of 7 by 54 torpedos with a $25.00 bid. Previously, during the boom, these
were a beautifully constructed cigar. Another vendor has the following on their web page: Evelio
Oviedo is a truly remarkable man. He rolled cigars in Cuba, had a dry cleaning store in Harlem,
made some more cigars in Honduras, and did other things over the course of his 60+ years in the
cigar business. Those of you who have seen a ***'s catalog before already know this, and you
may or may not care. What you should care about is that the man makes one hell of a cigar. We
like what he makes so much that we named a brand after him! Evelio cigars are a medium to full-
bodied smoke that are available in 5 sizes - 2 of them available in both Natural and Maduro. We
have been selling them for about 4 years now, and they have always sold well. We have had
trouble keeping them in stock --- Light one up today, so that someday Evelio can finally retire!" I've
seen a few photos of Evelio and he's always described as Plasencia's tobacco blender.

Rick, thanks for the review. I have a box on the way from CBid and look forward to receiving them. I had lost one bid but tried again on Steve R's post. Hope the price does not go too high!

I'm glad everyone is enjoying this cigar. It is still for sale at the vendor who had Nestor Plasencia make it up, but the retails are relatively high for a cigar which is out of production. When I bought my first box some time ago, the quality of the cedar box, itself, told me there was probably something special inside. These boxes at Cigarbid are all very well aged and ready to smoke immediately. At $25 to $30 a box, you'd be hard pressed to find a better value. You'll note the cello covering the box, itself, is yellowed and brittle, indicating that these cigars have been mellowing for years. One quick note about the bellicoso shape on this cigar. It is extreme, which may cause some draw problems in a few cigars per box. The cap end is quite narrow. When I get one that is too tight, I dampen the wrapper to where the bottom of the band would be and cut it there, with a very sharp guillotine cutter. I now have a short bellicoso with about a 32 gauge cap end with a very light draw. If you like this cigar, be on the watch for what was billed as Nestor's crowning achievement...the brand was called "Crown Achievement" and is also out of production. Only one vendor, as of last week, to my knowledge, has these, and they are on deep, deep closeout. Run a google search. Steve*R

I just checked the "other" site and only the corona is still available. I think it's a 5.5 by 42. Steve*R
