I'm thinking on getting one of those humidifiers that take care of 10 square feet and converting an amoir I have. What do you all do with all the boxes? Buy more desktops and transfer the sticks there? I am a bit of a neophyte, don't want my investments to dry out. Until my next desktop gets here I leave the boxes in the celophane.

I rented a locker in a cigar store humidor, made wooden, pigeon hole racks to fit it and am, once more, - out of space.

well, my method has been to commit purges, I have done a couple on this board already, and I am almost completely rid of all the cigars I really don't want to invest the time smoking, there are times when I like to have sub par cigars, like when I am smoking my third cigar at bowling, and no matter what I have it will taste below average, so I save my sub par cigars for that instance. My new problem is becoming, I now want all the cigars I have left, I like all of them, but my cabinet is full, I have a five year supply on hand, yet I still keep buying. I smoke over two boxes a month, so that is what I keep telling myself what I have to limit myself to on purchases.

Buy one of those really big insulated cooler and put your cigars in there (in their boxes) and put a humidification device and a thermometer in there and monitor the temp and humidity. Make sure you open the lid at least once every other day to circulate the air. That can work as a good temporary storage. I also rent a cigar locker at a local cigar shop where I have some boxes stored.

There are a handful of methods. I have humidors chock full of sticks. I know others that have converted antique ice boxes. Others prefer the budget method of a 48-150 qt. cooler. Those things hold temp and humidity better than most anything...and lots of sticks too. Do what feels right to you. Happy herfing!!

Your local TinderBox rents space for storage. That is if you are lucky enough to have a much more nicer TB near your home. Usually these types of TB's are reserved for richer areas of town that cater to the rich, however I don't fall in that catergory there is one in Charlotte, NC and such large cities as this. I however keep buying Dors' and such. Time to invest in a room conversion of the house to a walk in humidor. My God that is a dream I wish could be fulfilled suddenly....nice smoking room attached with leather couch and chair, wet bar, t.v., fuzzball table. Geez guys I can't take this wishful thinking anymore!

Just out of curiosity, what does this normally run?

I have no idea at Tinder Box. Call your local TB to see what spaces are available and size along with rates. As far as the house room conversion, depends on your creativity and carpentry skills.

Once Again I will post this Suggestion, I think someone removed my last one.. Anyways, I use Empty 20 mm Ammo Cans (purchsed at Army Surplus) they are Air tight. I store all my overages in them along with a Humistat that i have made up myself instead of Distilled water I use Alcohol(Scotch, Burbon, everclear, etc I line them in the old ceder cigar boxes. then store them in my Basement were it is cool once a month I will check on them and rotate the slats if need be!!!! I have pulled out soem very fine and Aged Cigars from this method. and its cheap too!!!
