I did not check snoopes, Dont know if this is true but I thought it what get some discussion going !!!!

At Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, DC recently the Sergeant
Major of the Army, Jack Tilley, was with a group of people visiting the
wounded soldiers. He saw a Special Forces soldier who had lost his right
hand and suffered severe wounds of his face and side of his body. The
SMA wanted to honor him and show him respect without offending,
but what can you say or do in such a situation that will encourage
and uplift? How do you shake the right hand of a soldier who has
none? He decided to act as though the hand was not missing and gripped
the soldier's wrist while speaking words of comfort and encouragement
to him.

But there was another man in that group of visitors who had even
brought his wife with him to visit the wounded who knew exactly what to do.
This man reverently took the soldiers stump of a hand in both of his hands,
bowed at the bedside and prayed for him.

When he finished the prayer he stood up, bent over the soldier and
kissed him on the forehead and told him that he loved him.

What a powerful expression of love for one of our wounded heroes!

And what a beautiful Christ-like example! What kind of a man would
do such a thing? It was the wounded man's Commander-in-Chief,
George W. Bush; President of the United States. With First Lady
Laura Bush silently standing by his side.

This story was told by the SMA at a Soldiers Breakfast held at Red
Stone Arsenal, AL, and recorded by Chaplain James
Henderson, stationed there.

Just as I'm ready to rest after another hard day of work, I read this post and wonder why you throw it in Rickamaven's face.

Why would Rick object to such an act of exemplary compassion? I don't understand the vitriol expressed by some of my brothers on the right. Yeah, I said RIGHT. I've voted for every Republican since Nixon. I've even voted for Pat Buchanan AND the erudite Alan Keyes. When Ronald Reagan and Dan Quayle had their character and intelligence assaulted, I was there to defend them and I was usually outnumbered. Now, I see you guys constantly assailing Rick. What is wrong with you? What if we were to critique your grammar OR the illogical flow of your thoughts OR your hypothetical premises which are based on anecdotal information? Repetition of a mantra doesn't make it fact.

Yeah, I've been reading Rickamaven's posts for about a year. I don't agree with everything he says, but at least he has opinions that make you think outside the four corners. A more generous, frank, self-effacing man I have never seen on these boards. He's also run a business, which is more than I can say for most of you. How much practical experience with budgets, marketing plans, etc. have you had?

Morally, George Bush stands in marked contrast to Slick Willy & others of his ilk, but he is a POOR President. Most of his political decisions are expedient attempts to "outDemocrat" the left-wing Democrats.

As I've said before, and I've only been posting for about a week, Dubya is not stupid BUT he is curiously uninformed and probably doesn't read much. A man who has probably never balanced a checkbook is leading this country into a financial abyss. His plans to further erode our borders will also lead to our HASTY demise as a great power.

Take that & smoke it in your crack pipes.

hope you have a fruitful trip, hog. i've got a relative or two on the wall; like to get there sometime to say g'bye. i've seen the moving wall before (the small version that goes from place to place across the USA), and that was... just no words for it. can't imagine how it would be to see the "real deal" in DC.

i'm still new on the boards, still getting to know people's personalities, posting style, etc. rick's certainly been nothing but a gentleman in my dealings with him. i don't agree with all he says here, but then i can say the same thing probably of everyone else here as well. *shrug* different strokes. thing is, i DO enjoy it when my beliefs are challenged -- the worst it does is make me reevaluate what i've held as true, and if i'm right, no harm in being even more sure of it. if i'm wrong, i can change my views.

after all, that IS the whole of the saying some are fond of: "my country right or wrong -- when right to keep her right, when wrong, to put her right." :)

At least I can be somewhat funny ON PURPOSE. Too bad people can't open their hearts and share their HONEST life's experiences on this great forum without receiving barbs from the likes of you. You say that I sound like a boastful, elitist jerk. Well, you probably perceive it that way because YOU are a petty, bitter man. I may need anger management when I run across nitwits like you, but you should get help for your inferiority complex.

By the way, jdrabinski may have some extreme liberal ideas, but he can usually think circles around you. If he is your enemy then he is my friend.

Don't think that I'll be posting for a while because you make me ill.

Bloody spaniard, you impressed me with your initial post, but I must admit that you over-reacted to a simple comment ("you sound like a jerk").

Truth be told, your statement regarding Rick's ability to balance his business budget did sound condescending, so the "jerk" comment was not entirely uncalled for.

You, on the other hand, react as if somebody assaulted your family.

I don't get it.

Tailgater, my ego has a hard time coping with a retard who goofs on people in public. If this cretin had made his comments in a more discrete or intelligent manner, I wouldn't have reacted quite a severely.

His overall tone AND his track record on the boards is what set me off. He reminds me of a retarded bully.

Yeah, maybe if I'd had more sleep, I might have rephrased a few things but let's drop it. My apologies (again) to anyone that I might have offended with my language.

Oh, and RETARD, thank you for offering your RETARDED wisdom. You are a sage RETARD. I've gotta work on my RETARD tolerance and with your help, RETARD, I think I can make it. Don't forget to wear your stained bvd's on your pointy RETARD head where they belong. Wave goodby you RETARD you.

I try to remember what my screen saver says after 1 minute of inactivity... In big letters it scrolls, "That which begins in anger, ends in shame..." I got that quote from another thread here on CBID and I try to internalize it. I'm human and therefore imperfect, but I try to remember that mantra when I start to get upset. I do better the older I get...

Big John, you remind me of Perot's running mate, Amiral Stockwell(sp?). Remember the debates?

As far as that one-tooth wonder who irritates me(not you Robby), our paths will cross someday. Hopefully by then I will have cooled off. You are a little funny in an "Idiot Savante" sort of way. Just remember to remove the finger from your nose from time to time and you'll breathe better.

I think it's deplorable. Someone finally posts an act of compassion by the President that no one can say was a "staged photo op" (snopes couldn't confirm it!) and what should have been a wonderful tribute to our wounded turned into a free for all name calling thread, how juvenile!

Whats really funny CW is that Mr. bloody said he voted for every republican since Nixon, so that would make him 53-54 years old, if he voted when he was 18.

He does not sound like he is over 20 years old to me nor a man that voted for every republican since Nixon.

But he does sound a lot like mrphd aka drbinski

Just thought I would out him once again hehehe

I did enjoy his little fit, very entertaining...

Tony, that 69Gottoman fellow just won't let it go. But he's a real patriot this one. With his "love" for veterans, Nascar, Republicans, apple pie, etc. The only thing he loves is his Depends. That way he can stay on his Osborne pc round the clock.

Genius, I was born in 03/53. That makes me 50. Voted for Nixon when he was re-elected- NOT in 68.

What about you. Is the 65 in your handle your age or IQ?

You see back before you were born, there was a car made by Pontiac called GTO, I have a 1965 GTO conv. With a 389 tripower NOS engine.

Im not a republican nor a demonrat, Im a veteran so I guess you can say I support and love all those that served/serve this great country and I do like apple pie. Why does that anger you?

Im so sorry you’re all upset

ps; I like NASCAR too and I have the American flag and POW/MIA flag flying in the yard.

Ill post some pictures of my flags and car, so you can see what they look like.

This will probably be my last post on this thread. OK here goes:

65GTOMAN, I remember the GTO quite well. It was a great muscle car & that's why I referred to the Rambler (in marked contrast). I GIVE YOU MY SINCERE APOLOGY & THANK YOU FOR DEFENDING OUR GREAT COUNTRY.

I was never drafted because of my high number (331) in the lottery, but I would have gladly gone. My father was a Navy Captain (physician) & my brother was a leatherneck (sergeant). You veterans made it possible for me to continue my education. My family had money, but I worked my way through school doing a vast number of menial jobs (scrubbing toilets, washing cars, sweeping after carpenters, etc.). I went from living in a large, comfortable house to surviving in some run down apartments with faulty floor-board heating. In the winter, the temps sometimes went down to the 50's in my bedroom. But I knew that through hard work & perseverance, things would get better. Today, I am blessed in many ways- except for my occasional temper...

I overreacted for a number of reasons- some of which are personal & of no concern to anyone. Everything that I have stated in this forum has been truthful and/or humorous (at least I've tried). Who would voluntarily stake public claim to being a founding member of the "Friends of Dan Quayle"? You misinterpreted my comments & have suggested several things:
That I have an attitude- well yes at times- don't you?
That I am a liar- you've unsuccessfully tried to "catch" me several times. This is the worst thing that you can do to a man in "public". If I were a public figure, I would treat it as part of the territory. Otherwise, it's time to put up or shut up.
That I am boastful & a know-it-all. Well I have my moments (my wife will attest to that) but I speak frankly.

Why have you wasted so much of your time obsessively examining my posts under your microscope? Why do you feel that you can call someone a jerk (without knowing them), imply that I am a blowhard (white house visits...), & try to impugn my character (implying I'm a liar) publicly on these boards without my calling you out? Where I come from, these are fighting words.

Like I said, I respect veterans very much. If I had to do it over, I would still take you to task but not as harhly as I did. Better yet, I probably wouldn't have posted anything. I like Rick but he can take care of himself.

I have never been a country club conservative. I believe in all the same things you do- well maybe not NASCAR (although Gibbs is great). However, I cannot defend the socialist agenda that our President is pushing. This President will probably be a one-termer because he (like his father) has taken our conservative votes for granted, while he seeks favor with the Kennedys & Vincente Foxes of the world.

GTO, no need to riposte with snide comments or to question my patriotism further. I'm all talked out. Oh, and I'm not the various people that you claim I am. I'm just an ordinary Spaniard (born US citizen) with a little "Eyetalian". Imagine a 6'1", 196 lbs, shorted- haired version of Serpico- smaller snout than Pacino's. I would post a picture, but it may come back to haunt me like this post...

well, even where the ground doesn't seem to be remotely common, there are always the fundemental truths of life.
