hey, pat: i did a lot of hanging out in dayton in younger years. really loved the city quite a bit. the 'burbs are the 'burbs -- all pretty decent and convenient -- but the city's where it's at. they've got a great art museum, great arts/music/theater community in general, great radio stations of all flavors, beautiful areas and ghetto areas and all points in between.

the oregon district is one of the coolest places in the world to hang out. the neon theater shows great movies, and there are a lot of excellent (but affordable) restaurants and the BEST blues bars around.

do yourself a favor and go eat at anticoli's restaurant when you get there. the finest italian food you'll ever have and in an elegant and authentic setting.

order up a cassanos pizza on the weekend -- best pizza i've ever had.

spend a day at wright-patterson air force base and the flight museum. loved it as a youth; loved it even more as an adult -- it's just flat-out COOL. i worked at the mil research lab there and got to hang out at the museum and explore it quite a bit.

also got my one and only tattoo in dayton. :)

no matter what you're into, there's somewhere to accomodate you there. if i were ever to move back to the midwest, that's my first choice of a city. i really did have some great times there.

Hey Beach Boy! How are ya?!? I cant aford to live in your neck of the woods. Remember, I'm just a redneck from Virginia that peppers his sentences with west coast terminology to sound cool. :-) Anyway we probably wont move till June or so. Wana wait for my daughter to finish the 10th grade. I figure she is the first in the last 8 generations to make it past middle school. Hey! Dont wana stop her now!!

Anyway hopefully we will have a nice little house warming if the Good Lord sees fit fer us to move. Till then we just keep truckin along.

Dont quite know when I'll be headed out your way again. Hopefully soon. Nice to see ya on the boards though.

Cavallo,

Beleive it or not I was born in Kettering but I have never really been there. My dad was picking up orders from WPAFB while he was on the way to Gulf Port /Buloxi. They were in Daytong just for the day and out I popped and they just kept on movin. So it will be nice to se where I was born. Kinda a wierd story but very true none the less.

Thanks for the advice. We should be going out there in a monthe or so to check the place out and I'll let you know what we find. Thanks again!

pat: you're very welcome! let me know if you need any info on local attractions etc. i had a grand ol' time there with anything from punk rock concerts to christian concerts (amy grant esp.) to seeing great films not in general release (and the neon theater has chairs that RECLINE!) to seeing great live blues performances to some of the best dining ever. oh -- and make a note of this: if you like garlic, order the house salad dressing at anticoli's. the stuff is NOTHING but garlic. *stomach growl* :)

that's pretty trippy that you're going back to your birthplace but you've never seen it. heh. well, do be sure to check out the USAF museum for your dad. lots of cool USAF souvenirs, too. :)

not to be nosy, but (if you don't mind answering) why are you (maybe) moving there? job stuff, or ? i just ask because not a lot of folks just up and say, "you know, i REALLY want to move to dayton, ohio!" *chuckle* although for all the memories i have there, i really have thought of doing so just because i loved it so much.
