An urgent call has just been received from an Assistant Attorney General at the Department of Justice asking us to spread the word that Attorney General Ashcroft is in desperate need of prayer. They are asking all of us to get the word out to our churches and membership immediately. AG Ashcroft is in critical condition due to something called Gall Stone Pancreatitis. It is an infection of the pancreas due to a gall stone. You cannot live without your pancreas but the infection is so bad now that they cannot operate. Please pray that the infection will end and that the doctors can take care of the problem or just pray for healing. Jim Combey has been sworn in as the acting Attorney General for now.

i oppose his politics about 95% and am not happy that he's the Attny General at all, but i don't wish the man a single second of suffering or any ill will at all. i truly do hope that he'll get well soon and live a good long life.

did he take a turn for the worse?? i could have sworn yesterday they were saying that he was doing ok and should only be in the hospital a few days????

I am not a political person - so I get lost with most political discussions but I'm with what Cav said - you don't have to like someone to send prayers to them when they are in need - because we all know we've been in one situation or another where we have needed prayers, if not for ourselves, for those that we love, know etc.

lmfao!

r.i.p., I hope. His hell should be one where he is repeatedly subjected to unreasonable searches and held without charges or representation.

Hard to get too misty-eyed about this one.

Hasta la vista, fascista!

mhpd: a lot of people feel like what he's done is positive for our country; a lot feel that it's harmed our country -- it doesn't matter when it comes down to someone's health like this.

whatever you think of him politically, he's a human being. he's someone's son, someone's husband, someone's father and friend, ya know? i can't imagine how hard it would be for a man -- and his family -- to be smacked down like this and face death so suddenly, and they must be in agony over it. it's a predicament i wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

and if you're a christian and dislike the man, remember what christ taught: pray for your enemies. it's easy to pray for the wellbeing of people you like. reach deeper and pray for those you don't like, too. /sermon. :P

And the hypocritical liberals call the conservatives cold blooded and heartless! I don't think much of the Patriot Act, in fact, I think it ought to be repealed! But that's a job for Congress, and the President! The Atty General only uses the tools he's given, I may think that one should be taken away, but I wish no harm on him or his family. ALL YOU LIBERALS REMEMBER MHPD, AND RICKAMAVENS COMMENTS WHEN YOU DECIDE TO DOWN CONSERVATIVES AS HEARTLESS!

Not a liberal. A libertarian. Very different. I sure the hell am not in Rick Maven's boat! LOL! Though he's a lot smarter than most of you guys.

Ashcroft is treasonous, giving aid and comfort to the enemies of freedom. He should be executed. Maybe this is God's way of taking care of it for us.

He doesn't deserve our concern or pity. I hope he suffers a lot. He has made our country suffer too much. It is his turn.

Bad karma....

Funny thing is, if Ashcroft is as bad as mhpd makes him out to be, the FBI computers surely have already read this and have someone coming out to question mhpd about wishing death upon the US Attorney General.

mhpd: a libertarian??? using your logic, does that mean that the gay community deserves aids (or that it was sent by god as divine retribution)???

you have your views, i have mine. live and let live, unless you are a treason-committing s.o.b., that is.

generations will be affected by ashcroft. his life has been long. so be it. a little pain and suffering only seems fair.

Strange use of words, “live and let live,” being that you wish him death. Not only that, you wish him an eternity of hell, “His hell should be one where…”

Funny that you disappeared awhile back when asked a point blank question about law enforcement. Care to pick that conversation up again?

mhpd...You are correct That is what is great about this country. We are all able to express our opinions. I disagree with you very much though. I dont think that you should wish pain and suffering on anyone. Now go take your meds and everything will be fine. Maybe a nice cigar and a glass of good brandy.

I will definitely hope and pray for Ashcroft's health and well being. But I will continue pray ten times as much that he and the rest of this administration is out of office in November.

See.... I'm not a insensitive hate monger. I do care deeply for the health and well being of all men, even those of you I have political disagreements with.

Live and let live...I'm not trying to kill anyone.

I'm only about 3/4 serious about all this. But I'll spare my pity and prayers for someone deserving of it.

Can't figure out why I should care about the link Echeck posted. Why do I care that he has been nice to a handful of black people? He is destroying civil liberties. Enough said. You missed the point, airhead.

Sylance, I don't do pop quizzes. It is degrading. My life is my life. My example is who I am. I don't need to answer to some fake name on a cigar bulletin board. Sorry. Try commenting on the issues instead of playing pop quiz master.

I think I make my views very clear here, and have contributed too numerous posts. I've disagreed with some, normally RICKAMAVEN’s, and have agreed with others. However, I think most would agree, and hopefully Rick would as well, that I have civilized debates and say that I’m open to other’s opinions… just as I hope others are open to mine.

What I do not appreciate is when people post here just to stir the pot. There have been some infamous posters here who were masters at that craft… I’m still undecided what your goals are.

I bring up the “pop” quiz as you call it, because your character and intentions were challenged on another thread, and instead of answering the challenge you disappeared for a month. In any case, I’m sure we can drop the “pop” quiz and your intentions will be well known after a few more posts anyway. I sincerely hope you're here just to chat and not stir the pot, as I think we all have had our fill of that.

Sylance, too much drama. This is just a bulletin board. I "disappeared" for a month because I took a vacation with the wife and kids, then forgot about this place, dropped back in. Is that so strange? I didn't know you had to be a daily contributor here.

Not a liberal, by the way. This president has alienated civil libertarians too, you know.

What could be more "stir the pot" than a call for prayer (give me a break!) for someone as anti-american as Ashcroft? People seem to think stirring the pot is something only liberals do. From where I stand, usadog stirs the pot every post, if you can decipher what he says. Are you critical of him too?

Goodwrench, are you saying that one day of catastrophe and we should bag the whole freedom thing? 9-11 was terrible, but it was one day. OUr country should be better than to fold after that.

I guess your definition of “drama” is a debate. So be it. And to answer your question, I have not been critical of Hog because I disagree with you on your comment; however I have been critical of some of those on the far far right.

But let me ask you this… what roll does Ashcroft have in the passing of federal law?

Per this website: http://www.usdoj.gov/ag/index.html

“The Attorney General, as head of the Department of Justice and chief law enforcement officer of the Federal Government, represents the United States in legal matters generally and gives advice and opinions to the President and to the heads of the executive departments of the Government when so requested. The Attorney General appears in person to represent the Government before the U.S. Supreme Court in cases of exceptional gravity or importance.”

Nowhere does it say he gets to pass any anti-American law he wants and then enforce them with his secret stormtroopers.

MHPD is a cold, heartless, poor excuse for a human being. He is probably a middle aged, fat balding male, with suicidal tendencies and does not play well with others. He was voted most likely to to be ostricized by his fellow man. Warning MHPD shows no human emotion and places no value on any life other than his own. He may possible be the second coming of the Unibomber!

Prayers said and on list. Thanks for the heads up. I knew he was in the hospital but really hadn't thought about adding him to my list. Needed a wake up call. Thanks.
