Jeez. That thread got WAY out of hand. I just wrote a post telling the "monitors" of CBID to please delete it. Got a little animated, to say the least. But that brings me to my point: There are a lot of nice folks in here. Thanks to those of you who made me feel like one of the gang.

I hadn't really thought about it DMV. How does that work? We mail each other a coupla sticks we think the other might like or hasn't tried?

I don't want to insult anyone or seem accusatory, but I am not all that sure I want anyone to know my address, what with all the identity theft crap going on in the world. I had my Visa number stolen once and some jackass charged up over $16,000 on my account. The bank knew it wasn't me, luckily, and it was cleared but it still sits with me and I am very protective of my personal information now.

You've kinda got the right idea, but if you don't want to participate...that's ok too.

Not that I don't want to DMV. It's the "police" in me. I'm sure I will get over my apprehensions after being here awhile.

MAC....I would not hesitate personally to deal with the main players here. And that's who you'd be dealing with in a newbie trade. They would contact you via email and setup a trade. Heck I am not sure why these guys call em trades....it's pretty one sided...you send a few humble smokes and they load you up with a bunch of different stuff to try! We went through that not too long ago...no one gives out anyone's address unless granted permission!

Oh yeah...and welcome aboard...these guys are awesome!

You could also setup a p.o. box if you are going to trade semi regularly

Hey Mac,
I should be interested in a small ISOM trade, in a week or so. Waiting on a few RyJ EL 2001. And your right, most of the guys here are great. If you stick with the well established traders, and let them know, you don't want your info, out to anyone else, we will keep your info to ourselves. I respect everyones privacy, except AlThors, LOL Dave97402 bombed him good. And I was the one who gave Ethans info to Dave, but I had been given permission, from Ethan, to give out his info, to BOTL. If you do not give me permission, than your info, would be my eyes only.
Have a great Day
Later
Dave (A.K.A. Homebrew)
P.S. I have been a victim of identity theft myself, so I do understand. Many people use their work address for trades.

Senior! those Exodus 1959's Gold or Silver?????? (Inquiring minds want to know!) LOL

P.S. HarleyRed goes by MMCS at work, Tarheel4lyf goes by IT1 at work, and I think I've told you that some folks call me ET1 (all SW). Everybody I've dealt with on here has been great! I've even swapped bombs with my favorite political foil RICKAMAVEN! He's pretty far left, but he's a BOTL! gorob23's a good one! Smelly4tay, Beta362 (did I get the no. right?) and Flyboy will have you thinking they own their own cigar stores, Mr Optimistic is OK, gvlagos was one of the first guys I swapped anything with on here, he's cool! I have a two lists of guys on birthday clubs who give a good account of themselves every month. I think most of the shiftless ones hang out on the sites where they can con people out of cigars supposedly to buy them, and sell them to others, but Cbid's policy keeps that riff raff off of here. Harder to get anywhere just sending out small assortments of cigars, and splitting boxes.

MAC5: i'm an ex-cop. i understand your hesitation, esp. after having your identity hijacked, but if you partake in the newbie trade you WILL be trading with an experienced cigar veteran with a STERLING reputation.

all address swapping is done privately -- not on the boards.

also, if you ever have questions about anyone here you want to trade with, just make a post asking about him/her, and you'll get deluged with honest feedback.

people here watch each others' backs.

also, if you DO want to trade but don't want to give out your addy, well, just tell them to send the smokes here. heh. ;) seriously, though, you can always rent out a PO box at the USPS or somewhere like Mailboxes Etc. the PO boxes at USPS are pretty cheap, too.

hope that helps! semper fi.

Thanks folks. I guess i'll have to get in on that. I have a lot of underway time between now and Christmas though. (underway time = ship is out to sea) We are doing a couple months of local ops and then we deploy to the Gulf region again. I WILL be purchasing large quantities of my favorite ISOM's while I am away. :^)

CW - GOLD Torano Exodus 1959. I LOVE those. One of the first ones I smoked that wasn't an ISOM.

And please... you dudes can call me Shawn.

We flew 5 flags during the whole ordeal (at different times of course) and did the same thing. I don't have a DVD burner but I will see what I can do to copy it at work.
