This afternoon I was packing my traveldor for a 4th of July BBQ at mom & dad's and I had my cigar menu set for the day (as discussed in a previous post). I went into my Lars Tetens cigar jar (I am NOT wasting a humidor on these sticks!) to retrieve an Asadachi when I thought, "you know, maybe I'll try one of the Stars of Cuba that I've had in there for a while." So I reach in and pull one out and see it covered, I mean COVERED in what appeared to be plume (I keep each Lars in its original bag which has turned out to be a fortunate thing), but when I looked closer I saw the colors green and blue! "S#!t man! That's not bloom, THAT'S MOLD!" I pulled out the other S of C stick and lo and behold, it was starting with spots of mold as well. All the other sticks in there were fine, the Asadachis, the Seizans, the Sun Fook Kas, and the Big Tones were safe and fine as can be so this struck me as odd. Has anyone else ever had this happen to them with this cigar? And is it safe to smoke a cigar when it has been covered with mold spores (out of CURIOSITY alone)? The offending purpotrators of mold are now in the custody of a ZipLock Freezer Bag.
