You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children. Suddenly, a dangerous looking man with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, raises the knife and charges. You are carrying a Glock .40, and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do?

Democrat answer:
Well, that's not enough information to answer the question! Does the man look poor or oppressed? Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack? Could we run away? What does my wife think? What about the kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand? What does the law say about this situation? Does the Glock have appropriate safety built into it? Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children?
Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me, or would he be content to just wound me? If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me? Should I call 9-1-1? Why is this street so deserted? We need to raise taxes, have a paint and weed day and make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior. This is all so confusing! I need to debate this with some friends for a few days and try to come to a consensus.

Republican answer:

BANG!

Southerner's answer:
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
click.......followed by the sound of clip ejection and a new clip being inserted. BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! click......

Daughter of southerner:
"Nice grouping Daddy!!! Were those the Winchester Silver Tips?"

you live in a dream world where yout trusty six shotter will protect you against the drunks at the saloon.

what really happens is he point a shotgun at you and says throw me the keys to your car, which you do because your wife is standing next to you, and trying to be the fastest draw in the west, might get her killed.

after he has left, you call the police and give them the vin of your car, tell them you have lojack and they find your car abandoned in an hour.

you drive home with your wife after the police drive you to your car and you ask her if were a coward. shouldn't i have told him to f off. she says no you told me to get behind you and you threw him the keys and let's leave the fingerprint dust on the car for awile and we will have a nice story to tell.

Shawn's got guns. Shawn's boy got his first at 11. Shawn is also a certified small arms instructor... so the boy can shoot his A$$ off just like dad. :^)

What I don't have is a concealed weapons permit. So in reality the guy gets the keys.

CW former Gunsmith for 15 years, CW not have Concealed carry permit either, CW spend too much time driving on and off base anyway, CW trow keys also! (and cuss that DoD won't allow CW to carry perfectly legal weapon on base in vehicle! Same weapon Dod require CW to maintain quals with for watchstanding!)

C-dub, I smoked checked our gunners mate for lunch last time at the range. He shot a 229 and I was perfect at 240. Only 6 of my 48 shots hit outside the innermost circle and those were barely outside. I was in a friggin' zone.

RD reaches into his pocket to get the keys and comes out with his S&W Model 642, 5 shot .38 - so there'd be no more than 5 bangs. May not have the stopping power of a 1911, but it stays concealed even when I wear shorts. By the way, RD does have a concealed carry permit, and is rarely unarmed.

RD is also a REPUBLICAN, a SOUTHERNER, a former JARHEAD, and a card carrying member of the NRA.

Way to go. I had 10 bangs... most I can have in my magazine now, thanks to gun grabbing know nothings.

I Live in Arkansas,
since I travel, over 25 miles to work, and am sometimes carrying fairly large quantities of cash, I am always armed. I do not have a permit, but by the time I am pulled over, my Ruger redhawk 41 mag, is on the seat, ready for inspection, right beside the 2 speedloaders. Never had a need for it, but you never know.
