My wife and I just bought our first house. And she has determined that my smoking room is the garage. I want to be able to smoke in my game room but her nose is just to sensitive. (Gosh do I sound whipped or what). Anyway, does anyone have an suggestions as to how I can get the "smell" out of the air in the house? Is there a certain air purifier that works really well?

I have tried both the Ionic Breeze and the Alpine air purifiers, and while the odors in the room are eliminated after several minutes, they do not remove the smoke immediately. Even blowing the smoke directly into these things doesn't help. What I do now is place a fan in an open window and sit down next to the thing and blow my smoke in the direction of the fan. This eliminates 95% of the smoke and the Alpine air handles the rest. During the winter, I sit by the fireplace and blow the smoke into the fire.

the garage ain't so bad, I been smoking in it for the past few years, get yourself a portable radio and space heater for winter, and the mice will keep you company.

Todog, I love your response! I am one of those who is relagated to the outdoors or garage for my "smoking room", and would love to have one with Home Entertainment and all the other great things that I could put into the smoking room; however, divorces are far too expensive to simply settle the problem. Maybe a "hitman" would solve the problem. Charlie

Oh, my garage is carpeted, so that makes it a little better. Charlie

I have a air cleaner, a Wizard (plugs in the wall), and bags of some kind of rocks that Home Depot is selling for $7/each. The rocks work best. After 6 months you put them outside in the sun for half a day and they are cleaned and ready to go again. AMAZING.
I even have one on the floor in my car. It sucked ALL ODORS out in 2 hours. Go to Home Depot and ask about it. I am not at home and forgot the name. If you can't find them, let me know.

Thanks for all the advise, except your's topdog :o) I'll try all of these things...and still probably wind up in the garage. Where I will have to lay some carpet.

FORGOT ONE: If you want the smell to be gone right now: try 'Wizard Tobacco Odor Neutralizer'. It comes in a spray can. They sell it in the large grocery store chains here. You spray this stuff around the room. AND PRESTO. No more odor. I guarantee it.

I saw this coming down the road early on. I chose to get my wife into this hobby to avoid such conflict down the road. I am almost to the point where I can smoke in bed. (ba dum bump)

granted neither of us enjoy kissing since we both taste like ashtrays, but hey a small price to pay for such luxury.

Rick, I almost cried from laughing when I read your post regarding the Carpet and a 90 rating! Must be a wool carpet, as the synthetics would smell too bad! Maybe I have started a new craze with the carpeted garage, but it still would be nice to smoke in the house! Charlie

I guess I got lucky. My wife dosnt like my cigars but she believes that the man rules and his house is his castle and he can smoke in it if he wants to. Also Im not allowed to do any house work, dishes, laundry or cooking as it is womans work. I married this woman as fast as could!!! cj

I was expecting you to say April Fool's or something like that! I am the "King of my House" to, but it only goes so far and cigar smoke is not on the King's list of things he can do! Charlie

"granted neither of us enjoy kissing since we both taste like ashtrays, but hey a small price to pay for such luxury" how can you enjoy a cigar and not like the taste of your wife's lips? doesn't make sense.

Don't knock it, if you haven't tried it! Just open your mouth and let your dog lick the whole inside.
Nothing like it.

My appologies to the forum police. I actually grossed out Howard Stern once. He said I could never be on his show again. Just so you know what you're dealing with!!
