I've got a little business over in Virginia Beach on Friday afternoon. Then it's off to someplace that's cigar friendly.

Any of you guys/gals interested in meeting someplace?

Probably some time after 3:00. I just heard of a pub/restaurant in the Hilltop East Shopping Center on Laskin, that is cigar friendly. The name of the place is GF Keegans. I know that they occasionally host cigar tastings. Anyone been there?

... why not a solo post -

Virginia Beach/Norfolk, VA HERF ? Be kinda last minute to post (for planning) - but I'd like to have a few days notice so my wife can send some "extra premium" sticks to me out of my humi back home ....

I figured the Virginia Beach in the title would be enough of a prod for the local folks to check out this thread. I don't get over to the southside often but since I had to come over that way on Friday I figured it might be an opportunity to visit with some of the southside crew.

Hey Penzt, Emersons Pembroke has an awesome little cigar lounge. I would be glad to meet you there Friday for a smoke. Then we could both be stuck in traffic trying to get back to the Peninsula!

What time can you be there? I'll still be heading up the road to Keegans. I need to check the place out for a future event. I'll probably hang out on the southside until 9:00 or there abouts, so the traffic going home shouldn't be too bad. I figure I might as well make a night of it. I might even roll down to PJ's too. They're all right along Virginia Beach Blvd/Laskin Road.

... I still get lost around here - but I'd be happy to make a show as long as I can find the place ...

p.s. What happened to playing hookey?

I'm playing hookey from work during the afternoon and taking care of some personal business on the southside. When that's done (3:00) I plan to smoke a cigar or two before I return to this side of the bridge.

I don't know my way around the southside too well but Virginia Beach Blvd is pretty easy to find. If you travel down VA Beach Blvd toward the ocean it turns into Laskin Rd.

I have never heard of CF Keegans. I know where PJ Baggans is. So, is it at Emerson's? I'll be wherever I need to be. Just let me know.

We can start at Emersons. I'll be there around 3:00. I haven't been to Keegans either but I wanted to check them out. I called yesterday to confirm they are cigar friendly. PJ Baggans is a nice place with a good selection of imported beers plus they have a pool table.

It sucks having to drive 35 miles to find a decent place to hang out and smoke cigars. You guys that live on the southside have it too good.

I hang out at home too but it's nice to be able to go out and socialize with the guys once in awhile. I've gone to Cujos a couple of times of the past few weeks. They're cigar friendly but I haven't seen anyone else with a cigar.

I plan on bringing my traveldor with a good assortment. Was wondering if any of you have a Cohiba XV you'd be willing to part with. I haven't tried one yet.

I knew someone would come through for me. Anything special, you're looking for? I've got a good assortment of Fuentes (Opus, Anejos, sungrown cuban belicosos, DC Maximus), Bucs (Salsas, and Z's), and Torano Tribute robustos in my otterbox.

was nice putting faces to the screen names :-) sorry that I wasn't much fun - my tummy just didn't like all the different kinds of smells from everyone's 'gars. I'm just used to having two smells going on at once - not five or six and it just made me a little green at the gills. Hope my tummy isn't acting up on May 1st or I might turn green for the rest of my life LOL

- well .... I finally found the place on Saturday afternoon - spoke to the guys that work there ... they were prepping the place for painting out & fixing up a little ... one of them said that "Jason" had been there the day before ... it was EMERSONS ... was that the right place? Or was that the 'alternative' location? Anyway - sorry I missed ya'll ... maybe next time around ....

Jimmy, you may have fallen victim to the same thing I did at first! There are two or three Emersons's locations. One (where the herf was) on VB Blvd. One over across from Greenbrier Mall, and (I think, but am not sure) Downtown Norfolk.

After everyone left I headed down to Keegans (Irish pub). It's near the Ethan Allen store in the Hilltop East shopping center. They don't permit cigars until 9:00 PM. The prime rib was excellent and the Guiness wasn't bad either. I finished eating around 9:00 but didn't feel like hanging out by myself.

Cujos is a lot more convenient for me and they permit cigar smoking all the time. I've been trying to go there about once a week just to get out of the house. I'm usually the only one smoking cigars.
