Senior Officer Specialist Scott J. Williams was murdered by an inmate at USP Lompoc, California, on April 3, 1997. There were several other Officers injured when an inmate armed with two knives began to attack the Correctional Officers assigned to the food service area of the prison. Officer Williams dragged a co-worker out of the area saving his life. During the attack and before he saved his friend, Officer Williams was stabbed in the neck and died of his wounds. The inmate has yet to go to trial due to the delay tactics of his defense team and his ability to manipulate the courts in the 9th district. Officer Williams left a wife and children behind. For his actions Officer Williams was awarded a Medal of Heroism from the American Correctional Association. God bless him and his family.
