For me, I take it seriously, but I don't belong to a gym or anything. I use basic things. I do push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups, basically anything with an up in it fits my physical fittness program, unless of couse your talking screw-up or f-up... That and of course stairs, and joging... Not bad for an old man. How do you stay fit? And if you don't, YOU SHOULD!!

I'm a gym rat. Cardio 2 days a week and weights 2 days a week.

For Cardio, I go to a class called Body Pump. I used to be really skeptical regarding any kind of aerobic class. I always thought it was "just for chicks". However, I took this class once and it tore me up. 1 solid hour of intense aerobic activity with a weighted barbell. You vary the intensity by how much weight you put on the bar. You hit every body part: chest, quads, bis/tris, etc for about 6 min each. You know you are in for a workout when you load up a bar and do squats non-stop for 6 min straight.

As for weights, I just do the regular stuff. Usually free weights only. Dont care much for the machines.

Used to run but the knee's don't take it that well. Nordic Trac now and love it. Takes alittle while to get the coordination but not pounding and has some upper body work. I'm 51 for reference purposes.

I go to the local YMCA and do weights and take aerobic classes. It may sound silly but I really enjoy step aerobics. It really helps with coordination when you are on the dance floor and the room is filled with women. I also like the Cardio Kickboxing classes they have.

YMCA - 4-5 times a week . Treadmill 20-30 minutes running and weights and basketball after twice a week with a few other old farts like me. Helped me lose 50 lbs and keep it off :) ...

Pre-marriage, I use to go to the gym 4-5 days a week.

Post-marriage and kids, I chase the kids around.

The Atkins diet has helped greatly. To date I hav lost 30 lbs. I have been on the maintenance end of it.

With summer coming, a LOT of yard work:-(

Aerobic sex always helps too:-)

I lift weights 5 days a week and do aerobics two. I usually get to the gym at 600 and am out by 900. I eat a strict regimen six days of under 20g of fat and very low simple carbs. I try to eat 2X the amount of protein for mass (my weight 250 x 2 = 500g). Also Sex doesn't hurt either!

AZ-Ron I found that you have to get to class early to get to the back. Otherwise you wind up dead front. Maybe the women get there early to check me out....oops I must be dreaming again. Time to wake up and get back to work.

By the looks of me, nothing. Im getting tired of breaking lawn chairs just by sitting in them. And I think I heard my drum stool screaming the other day. I do play softball one night a week, and a good 4 hour band session gets me all sweated up, but need to start with the running and cycling again.

Holy crap fritz! 500 grams of protein??? I do a 1.5 ratio (about 260 pounds = 390 grams). I have a nice little sulfur cloud following me around by night time, I can't imagine being around you.
Yea, one of the wonderful 'side effects' of weight lifting! Haha.

If you mean "Get into shape," then I use dumbells. No, I don't use drummers, I mean those little bars with steel plates attached to them. It's working.

Also, I just bought a new surfboard. When I get some time, I'm going to start surfing again. $h*t, I live 2 blocks up from some of the best breaks in Santa Cruz. I'll be ready for drywall next week. Can't do too much project work then. I can't wait.

I drink beer to stay in shape. If by in shape, you mean round!

Seriously, I do the requisite push-ups and sit-ups, then do 45 minutes of cardio 5 times a week on an elliptical. Softer on the knees.

Zippo for the past 2 years...many excuses and injuries/surgery...

STAY in shape!? HAH!!!!

Try to GET back into shape is more like it...

2 years and 30 pounds extra weight later...I'm in the gym with a trainer 3 days a week now (just started last Monday - owwie! I'm sore)...Mike and I pre-paid for 24 sessions each so I'll be pissed off if I don't use it regularly for results.

Once I get back to where my body likes to be, I'll probably be in there at least 4 days a week like I used to. I like the free weights best and look forward to building myself back up to regular use of them.

For now, it's the crunches on the evil ball, the stairs to nowhere, and various other sadistic machines to melt the flab away.

Ughhhhhh.......I need a cigar....

al'Thor...Realistically?

Ok, I do 3 sets of 25 reps of push-ups...naked...

THEN, I reach around for a bit of a twist and shout...use your imagination...

THEN, I commence to downward facing dog...

Followed by rolling over to do 3 sets of 25 reps of pelvic thrusts...

Onto working my hip flexors, abs, and bi-ceps....

Then, finish off with a good jaw stretch...

What a work out...I need a towel.......wait, I think I'll have a sudsy shower first...gotta use my shower massager...aching muscles, ya know!?

HI 428:

Don't have the digestive problem, only if I eat soy. I believe in a strong protein regimen, intermixed with water, aspirin, chromium and hydroxycut. Works for me and my wife loves it too (the effects on me)

Ok....

lift 3 times/week
run 2+ miles 2 times/week
martial arts - specifically Wing Tsun 2 sessions/week
referee soccer all levels 2-3 games/week

that is a lot more than I thought I did in a week. Actually writing it down and looking at it is kind of scary. No wonder my kids say "that guy is here again" when I walk in the door,

just kidding. They actually call me Dad.

Metal detecting--you'd be amazed at how tired you are after 3 hours of waving the detector back and forth and digging holes non-stop.

30 minutes a day aerobic exercise, usually on a cardioglide type bike. Eat sensibly most of the time. Works for me. Cigar every now and then is good for the soul.

my sporty days are pretty much over with, so for me it's mostly about diet control. having a wife who can make the healthiest food taste wonderful sure doesn't hurt. :)

i don't "work out" as much as i do physical therapy, which is mostly about doing whatever exercises my body will tolerate at the time. when the nerves in my shoulders aren't impinged, i do some bi/tricep/chest work. keeps me looking mean enough.

BTW, for those who it applies, protein has a finite rate of absorption, thus the surplus is excreted and is never used. My point, don't believe the hype of EAS, Cytodyne Industries, Weider, etc. They love for people to keep going crazy with high levels of protein......anything above 1 gram of protein per pound of LEAN bodyweight is largely unused in most cases. Sure your getting big loading up on it, but you'd get just as big taking in 40% less.

As a side note: If you are currently taking creatine (I am not but used to), beware of the suggested dosages. Over doing creatine can lead to a variety of health issues up to and including liver dysfunction and renal failure issies.....just be careful.

Thanks Sonny:

I've heard others say the same about protein and its absorption into the system as well as the possible negative renal side effects, however the proof is the pudding (or lack of it). Creatine has served me well too. I'm a big boy and generally (again I say generally, not to stupidity) try things out myself or research them before making an opinion (as most of you would notice from my postings). Whatever works for you is great, I know what works for me I've had 25 years experience (I'm 41 now).

Semper logicus!!

I used to work out in the gym at least 4 days a week. Now with a family and a house the time or budget is not there. I am however very active. I don't sit still. Gardening, misc woodworking and playing with my son is my exercise. As he gets older I am doing more, like bike riding and rollerblading. Besides....I have to do something to counter the effects of how much I drink and smoke.
