Tomorrow Smarty Jones should be crowned KIng bariring some unforseen event. Do You agree? who is second ? third? I like Eddington and Birdstone as the only decent value horses to put in exactas with Smarty. Everyone is picking Rock Hard Ten second but that exact probably pays only 3.60 not worth the bet to me. I hope he wins too... been much too long without a triple crown winner and this horse seems to have the "stuff"

I was bummed. I made my son watch it with me, since we haven't had a triple crown winner in his lifetime. He laughed at me when Smarty Jones lost!

Who the hell is this birdstone anyway?

This really made me appreciate what magnificent specimens Secretariat, Seattle Slew and Affirmed were.

BIRDSTONE WAS ONE OF THE FAVORITES TO WIN IN THE CROWN RACES AS LATE AS MARCH BUT HE BECAME ILL AND COULND'T TRAIN OR RUN FOR A WHILE ..HE RAN EIGHTH IN THE DERBY BUT HAD A ROUGH TRIP AND LOST A SHOE.HE IS A SON OF GRINDSTONE WHO WON THE DERBY IN 1996 I THINK.i DO THINK SMARTY IS THE BETTER HORSE BUT HIS RACE STATEGY WAS OFF YESTERDAY. tHESE GUYS ARE USED TO RUNNIG 1&1/16TH OF A MILE AND THE JOCKEY NEEDS TO PACE THEM. tHEY ALSO SOMETIMES FEEL THE RACE IS OVER BEFORE IT IS. HORSES CAN'T SEE THE FINISH LINE.
