The actual live report also stated that there were a lot of fraudulent registrations.

Is Marion Berry a felon? The famous mayor of DC busted for cocaine. Of course there are different laws regarding the positions of VP and pres.

So was Democrat former congressman and current in-mate James Traficant... A true felon and a loser (and coming from me).

This story about hiring the ACT felons has broad coverage and I have no issues with its athenticity. Is it significant? Maybe. But here's where I think it is signicant.. It helps set the stage for 2004 election shenanigans. Just another move on the chess board. Consider the following from Scoop.com
----------------------------------------------------
To understand how George W. Bush will win the next presidential election, it helps to understand how he won the last one. While all public attention rested on hanging chads, butterfly ballots and a skewed recount in the wake of the 2000 Presidential election, the root of the problem has been overlooked. As investigative reporter Greg Palast uncovered, the state of Florida purged over 90,000 people from their list of eligible voters under the guise that they were felons. In fact, almost none of the disenfranchised voters were felons...but almost all were blacks or democrats.

Palast's investigation revealed that at the heart of this ethnic cleansing of voter lists was the creation of a new centralized database for the state of Florida. In 1999, the state fired the company they were paying to compile their "scrub" lists and gave the job to Database Technologies (DBT, now ChoicePoint). DBT, a private firm known to have strong Republican ties was paid $2.3 million to do the same job that had previously been done for $5,700.

The first list of felons from DBT included 8,000 names of felons from Texas supplied by George Bush's state officials. The state government said they were all felons, and thus barred from voting under federal law. Local officials complained about the list and DBT issued a new one, this time naming 58,000 felons. Palast discovered that the one county that went through the process of checking the new list name by name found it was 95% wrong.

Because of the way DBT compiled its erroneous list, Florida voters whose names were similar to out-of-state felons were barred from voting. An Illinois felon named John Michaels could knock off Florida voters John, Johnny, Jonathan or Jon R. Michaels.

DBT didn't get names, birthdays or social security numbers right, but they were matched for race, so a felon named Joe Green only knocked off a black Joe Green, but not a white person with the same name. There was no need to guess about the race of the disenfranchised: a voter's race is listed next to his or her name in many Southern states including Florida because racial ID is required by the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
------------------------------------------------
Maybe the real power in this country isn't with the government... It really lies with the database gurus .... kinda scary!!! Hmmmm!!

I thought felons could not hold Federal office - states make up their own rules.

I guess we will have to wait and see what happens. So you are saying I should move from infrastructure to db?

are you some kind of trouble maker?

don't you remember, little w, one fair and square and the supreme court only stopped the recount when w;s margin of victoy had shrunk from 500+ to barely over 100..

no mention was made of the felon list at the time because hamging chads were easier to confuse the public with, it was vague?

is you want a copy of "orwell rolls in his grave"

send me a snailer

And from what i hear felons are not eligible to vote.
But that doesn't count in Maryland.
In Greenmount Cemetary in Baltimore there are so many democrats registered there that its a congresional district complete with a congressman and a city counselman to oversee the wants and need of the dead constituants. And when state federal and local elections are close they are the last district to be counted

Rick, as I remember it, his margin INCREASED by over 100. And the DNC started wanting to recount counties they originally had no problems with! So, yes, get over it! And there IS no difference between the eligibility for Pres, and VP because the VP could become Pres in an emergency.
DB, there may have been irregularities in Fla. I KNOW there were iregularities in Wisconsin, or was it Minnesota, where a woman from New York stated on national TV that they had the idea of giving the homeless cigarettes to go in and vote Dem.? Do did you forget that one? How about some stories from Virginia that never made it past local talk radio? A bussload of retarded adults who had thoughtfully been registered to vote gets off at the polls and is handed PRE-FILLED OUT BALLOTS with guess who punched on them? Al Gore! How about a woman who was handed a ballot the already had Gore punched on it and asked for another "Oh sorry!" yeah sure right! A vote for Gore would go through, but a punch for Bush would get thrown out as a double vote! But you neo-libs only see what the republicans do, and NONE of the democrat shenanigans, YOUR hypocracy makes me want to PUKE!

Irregularities-
hundreds of people who voted, and had no doubts about their votes, until DNC campaign workers started calling them and asking them about things they had no worries about five minutes before.
DNC lawyers demanding a recount of several counties that they said were in question, and after the recounts picked up ADDITIONAL BUSH VOTES tried to force a recount of the whole state.
Democratic supporters refusing to accept the results unless the recounts led us to another two years of Clinton while the issue was resolved.
The father of Al Gores campaign manager was the boss of Chicago, and when he worked for JFK in his race against Nixon in the late fifties, Nixon had the grace to bow out, even though the race was as close as this one was. Come to find out, the margin of victory, which was in the Chicago area, much as it was in Florida this time was exceeded only by the number of people who voted after their death certificates had been signed! HMMMMMM and THESE are the people accusing the republicans of chicanery? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!
