What's wrong with public embarrassment? When did we as a society come to the incorrect conclusion that pain and embarrassment is a bad thing?
I teach martial arts to kids and once I asked a young girl (around 8 yrs) to do a technique that I just showed. She did it completely wrong because she wasn’t paying attention. When she did it wrong I told her it was wrong, I told her she wasn’t paying attention, and that she owed me 10 push-ups for not listening to her teacher. You know what she did? She started crying in class…
Now you might be saying that I was out of line because I pushed her too far. But here’s news for you… the kids tell their parents my class is their favorite because I discipline them. They know where the boundaries are, they’re clearly defined, and they know the consequences for going over them. The girl is still in class and she pays attention now. Go figure…
Here’s news for you Rick, life gets painful and embarrassing at times. Better get them to get used to it now, or else you have a kid who shots another kid simply for calling him a name.
