Indeed they do. The Humvee is excellent at going over rough ground but they were never designed to take fire on a front line. The National Guard Engineering battalion my son was in had cutting tools with then in Iraq. They converted abandoned blast doors into armor for their vehicles.
The Army is working on it, but no doubt being a part of the Federal Government they must draw up detailed specifications, justify the costs to Congress, go out for bids and evaluate minority and female owned business before awarding a contract. In the mean time... our soldiers die. Too bad they couldn’t make a command decision like the one they did with Halliburton.
