"Voting Machine Critics Rally Across the US" story on Yahoo this a.m.

Let me guess ... if the Dems win, they worked flawlessly. If they lose, then it's fraud.

So paper ballots are bad.
Machine ballots are bad.
Computer ballots are bad.

We've already established that there are legions of people not smart enough to use a punch card.

Sounds like these folks would be much happier in countries where someone sticks a gun barrel in your mouth and explains to you who won the "election."

What blows my mind is we never had a "hanging chad" or incorrectly counted ballot in the past. Only when the great Right Wing Conspiracy decided to take the White House by trickery. I don't even think there was a black helicopter involved.

Do you think we should have any voting system where there is no possibility of recount or audit?

The real bad thing about the hanging chad coverage in 2000 was that it distracted everyone from the real crime of disenfranchisement in FLA. This is an legal issue that could have pushed inauguration into 2002 but the Dems (Gore in particular) decided not to push this in the best interest of our country.

The issue is the sanctity of every citizens right to vote and the recording of that vote. Let's never belittle that.

Seems like we've had methods that offer the chance for recount about as long as we've been voting. And the votes were recounted, numerous times, by numerous people, groups, news agencies, etc. No one came up with a different result.

And we have lots of solutions for disenfranchisment.

Detroit, as an example, always keeps the polls open way, way past closing time to get the Democratic results up as high as possible. 11 p.m. one year. The traditional Republican voting areas close at 8 p.m. I guess they could do the same thing in Florida, too.

I heard the BS stories about minorities being beaten and driven away from polls in Florida, being refused a right to vote. Never saw any tape footage or heard any credible charges from it, however. We always have a video camera available anytime a cop arrests someone. Seems like we would have had one somewhere during the polling in Florida to capture the moment.

Don't forget that the majority of the disputed votes and claimed problems in Florida were in voting districts controled and operated by Democrats.

There has always been and always will be ways to rig elections. Chicago has always had a notorious reputation in that department, with the old joke about the final results waiting for the outlying graveyards to report in. It is widely accepted that the mob threw the election to JFK in his race against Nixon. Nixon, either because he had some connections of his own or for his supposedly stated reason of not wanting to throw the cnation into chaos, did not contest it. Fuel for the conspiracy theorists later when JFK thanklessly turned Bobby loose on organized crime and paid in Dallas.

Eleltea makes a fine reference to the long history the Democrats have of rigging elections, with assistance from their close friends in organized crime and the Mob's step-children, the unions.

Only thing is back then we didn't have the networks ramming it in our faces 24/7.

Just a side note,
Florida, has admitted that thousands of eligable voters, were turned away, because of an incorrect list of people being labeled as felons, who were not. A new list, compiled since the last election, has also been thrown out due to it's inaccuracies, though the Florida election comission wanted it in place, they had attracted media attention so they dropped the list.
Sorry for the threadjack.

Good point, but it still will not end the 24/7 coverage of the slightest little problem right or wrong! California has new voting machines and the NAACP and ACLU both claim there are irregularites of some kind in a lot of these machines......cry wolf before after and during election that you are going to lose to create havoc......guess democrats and all of their splinter organizations are starting early!

Homebrew, I don't ever consider your adding opinion a threadjack. You have the courage to speak your convictions and I'm always glad for the input. Same as I appreciate RICKAMAVEN's insight.

Leftyfornia is allowing illegal aliens to vote correct? I believe NY is doing the same.

This is the Dems way of increasing their chances of winning.

RDC,
I believe that the California rules, are only for schoolboard elections, not other elected officials, the same for New York.
