Do you ever get the feeling that Yahoo auctions are fixed. I bid on don carlos cigars and with less than a half hour got outbidded. On yahoo the person if I won wanted to get paid by money order before he ships out a little skiptical. Anyway don't mean to sound like sour grapes just feel like its sometimes fixed I usually have good street sense. P.S. Hate does overbidders that pay more than retail.

When I used to sell stuff on Ebay and Yahoo, I would ALWAYS wait until receiving a MONEY ORDER (or a personal check as long as the person has good feedback) first before sending out the goods...When I buy stuff on those sites, I ALWAYS send out a money order first...It's the way everyone there does it.

We havent had much whining lately but when it comes it is sort of silly! Agree with Keith (Rookie) that is the way these things are done, and if you don't want to play pack the tools and retreat! Sorry, but that is the way it it goes! Charlie

Yeah, and if you really want an auction lot, right before it closes is the best time to bid.

I've seen a complain about being overbid on an item just before it closes. And I've noticed most lots close in the same three hour window every day. I pays to check back then if you really want a particular lot. It also pays to auto-bid what you're willing to pay then go play ball with the kids and not worry about it. The win-win can take over in those last five minutes and you might end up overbidding against your better judgment. As for ebay and yahoo...ebay does accept tobacco items and yahoo is littered with rip-offs.

Ebay does not allow auctions for cigars or any other tobacco.

Now that's funny, CBid requires your credit card to be authorized for payment before they ship also. Might be a trend among reputable merchants to want to have their money before shipping out a product to an unknown person. I have been buying and selling on ebay for over 3 years now. Over 300 transactions with no negatives. I always expect to send payment first when I'm buying and I always expect to get payment first when I'm selling. Go figure, ORV
