These cigars were released in cabs of 50 back in 2002-2003 for about $5 and if you can find any usually now go for upwards of $30 each.

I just heard that this cigar will be released again this year in boxes of 20. This may just be a rumor but we will see soon enough. My local has agreed to call me if he gets any in.

It's true. I bought two last week at $8.50 each. I don't know if this is a good price or not since it's the only ones I've ever seen. Others must have thought it was a nice deal because when I went back to get more, they were all gone.

Wow. I wonder if these are the same blend/tabaccos as the original. This is one cigar I have been looking for for a really long time.

I really like Rosado wrappers, and they seem to age really well. I scored a box of really old Perdomo Rosados about a year and a half ago. They were in white tubos. The guy in the shop said he had that box sittting in the walking for about 9 years, got if for 80 bucks, great smoke.

#2 What do these look like? Do they have the 858 Flora Fina on the wrapper and the red ribbon foot?

Yes

8-5-8 Flor Fina on wrapper and red ribbon on the foot, wrapped in cedar. About toro size. The box says 8-5-8 sungrown rosado

^yup, sounds right. The original 858 sungrowns were packaged exactly like that except no cedar IIRC.

Wow ... that is good news !!!

Originally ... there were only 4350 Fuente 858 Rosado Cigars ever released. The 858 Rosado wrapper was grown by the Oliva family in Ecuador.

Of course ... I will never see them because they will be 'sold out' before I will ever have the chance to find them (where I live) and I doubt they will be offered 'online' due to the limited number produced.

^Slim, my understanding is that these are not going to be ultra-limited but having the masses looking for them for the past 4 years will probably make them go away pretty quickly, agreed.

I just got off the phone with a local Fuente rep a few minutes ago.

Fuente is going to release 3 new sizes with Rosado wrapper in the next few weeks ( but it sounds like they have already).

Retail $6.75-$7.75
Ring Guage: 52, 54 & 56
Varying lengths: between 5 and 6.5 inches.

For all of you 858 Rosado lovers, it looks like your time has come. Keep an eye out at your local B&M. Should start arriving soon and they will be regular offerings...

... not limited release !!!

knokmdwn.
The original Rosie also had the cedar wrap. I know because I am looking at 3 in my humi. (one was a gift from E4A when we met years ago, thanks Mike) That one goes up in smoke as soon as I get a new box.

Slim,
That is the story I heard as well yesterday. Three sizes with the rosado wrapper but only one would be the 858 blend. Looks like we may be smoking 858 SG again soon. My source was not able to tell me if these would be the same wrappers from Oliva that went on the originals. Fuent has released other cigars with rosado wrappers since but they just have not been as tasty.

I'm surprised Lowman has not chimed in. One of the few that bought a cab of the originals IIRC.

Just got off the phone with one of my suppliers (cigars). We had an interesting conversation about the AF 858 Rosado and the AF 858 Sungrown.

According to him, the Rosado is going to be a limited release (again). The Rosado was originally released in 2002 (I think he said) and there were only 187 boxes released. He said they are currently trading on the internet for around $1700 a box right now.

The 858 Sungrowns are going to be released again also and will be much more readily available and he anticipates b&m's getting shipments of these about 4 times a year.

I am definately no expert about these statements but the guy owns several b&ms so I gatta take what he tells me as pretty solid fact. He has always been a very straight shooter with me about such things. Just thought I would throw out a little info.

Anybody who sees these at a B&M, even if you don't want to get them for yourself, I would be happy to get either.

Perhaps a stupid question, since I've never tried one of these...but I'll ask anyway. Are they all that different than the sungrown King B rosado?

My father in law was able to grab two boxes of 858 Rosados from his local today. One of them will be in my humi really soon!

Pac,
Since the new Rosarios were just released nobody knows how they will compare to the King B yet.

#28 Hmmm...good point. Then again, I thought I would take a chance on the 2009 Oliva V maddies. I loved the originals, but figured they're all gone, right?

So I get the box of V maddies in with an order that had other goodies in it...and see that the V maddies say 2008! Considering how much I enjoy the original, I'm not upset, just still left wondering on the 2009s. Just because they carry the same name doesn't mean they'll taste the same.

I also need to dig out a box of the original V maddies from the back of my ToP humi. I don't recall the originals being marked 2008.

i never really liked the king B. wondered if the 858 rosies were so sought after more due to rarity rather than being a great cigar. to each their own.

BTW, DED, the Fuentes you sent me are friggin' awesome. Since you insisted on it being an RAOK, I hit someone else, insisted that be an RAOK. Gotta keep the kharma going, but I do appreciate the goods you sent my way.

Since when has 'no retaliation necessary' ever stopped anyone (especially me) from giving ANYONE who hit me their 'just deserts' right back at 'em ?!?

^ Hmmm........ okay.

Kimon, I was always disappointed a little in the King B. I doubt it has the same rosado wrapper as the original 858 Rosie. There are quite a few who considered those to be better than the 858SG but rarity may have played some part.

pac, a ROAK for a ROAK works. Don't listen to slim. I've still got road rash from his idea of retaliation!

Interesting news...

I wouldn't mind grabbing a couple more 8-5-8 Rosies........but I think I'll wait until the smoke settles and see if they are any good.

The cloud of mystery around Fuente releases is fun....I wouldn't count on anyone REALLY knowing the story on these releases.
