when i woke up at 3:40 pm, toby made me a pot of puerta rican coffee. most of not all of my muscles hurt because i was up untill 6:00 am carring the parts for a 10 X 14 shed i am putting together for her in the back yard. toby wanted a place to store and show her doll collection and has aptly named the shed "the doll house."
first i installed a motion detector to light the area as one approaches the shed. as anyone who has installed one of these motion detectors, $13.00 at home depot, you have to adjust the direction of the sensor and the bulbs to get it to work the way you want. i was lucky, i only had to climb the 8 foot ladder 4 or 5 times to adjust it, only making one mistake stepping off the ladder, when i stepped off, not from the bottom step, but the second step, tweaking my back a little when i hit the ground latter then i expected.
building the base frame was pretty easy once i read the direction. i hauled carton #2 to the back with a appliance dolly. it weighes about 70 pounds, but i was able to stand it on it's end and tilt it on to the dolly and haul it to the back. carton #1 which holds the shed would have required a fork lift, so i opened the box and took it to the back, several pieces at a time.
the upshot of all this was the morning coffee, and a cigar, with no interest in moving for several hours.
i turned on the HDTV and was on a sports chanel where a sport called professional soccor was being played between red shirts and white shirts with a 15 year old
player named abu or adu was running around off the court warming up to play against the older players.
the announcers didn't talk much, which i found refreshing, but i turned off the sound anyway ecause i had a headache. they would kick the ball or hit it with their heads until they got to one end of the court, and then the other team would do the same thing the other way. some guy in the red tee shirt, or it might have been blue, kicked the ball very hard into the backstop with the net, and his teamates hugged him.
the things i noticed were, i could watch it with out sound unlike football, where two or three people tell you about what you just saw, and where the runner or receiver came from and why he did or did not do what the announcer thought he should do, with the explanation taking longer then the play, and i guess in soccor the score and the time don't seem to matter. when that guy kicked the ball into the backstop net, nothing came on the screen with a score, stats about his career, his teams past, or time, and during the 40 or so minutes i watched, i only saw one thing on the screen beside the sport, the time appeared showing 4 minutes to go.
when it ended the white tee shirt guys shook hands with the red or blue tee shirt guys, which seems like they won the game. maybe the guy that kicked the ball into that net thing won the game for his team, i don't know.
i hope this doesn't become a popular sport and get ruined the same way professional football got ruined.
