Why change something that was beautiful the way it was?

Just wondering ...

Why do all the Webmasters think it's better to make it harder to read the posts?

Again ... just my 2ยข

I agree with Slim that these posts are indeed harder to read, but I like the new status report showing last post etc.

I'm gonna have to disagree. Nothing hard about this at all. I like the change.

Slim and others,

What makes it harder to read? I'm just a geek that likes structure and the old format was all over the place, so when we modified the thread list format with date and last posted by, we also modified the thread display so it was a little cleaner. Now cleaner for me doesn't mean it's nicer/easier-to-read/etc for you. Please offer your input, I'm very interested. We can make format changes very easily. Muchos gracias.

Gonz, I like it, but could do without the shaded alternating boxes! Charlie

The most important change seems to be being able to tell when the last reply was added to a thread. Before you had to open it. Positive changes in my opinion, ORV

Overall I like the change in thread organization. I like the frames layout better than the previous arrangement. However, where the outline got you from one message to the next okay, now you need something to separate them. The shading is okay with me. I use it to separate rows in spreadhseets all the time. Hoe about a different color...pastel maybe, or mauve, or...now see how easy it is to fall into that "taste" thing.

Overall I like the new format minus one thing...I always knew which posts where new before...now exerytime someone replies to a post it seems to jump to the top of the list. Otherwise it is all good. Todd

I agree, lose the frames. I also think that it would be easier to read w/out the shading. I like the fact that when a thread has a new reply, it moves to the top of the page.

Gonz, I like the new style very much. Seems more organized. However, I am not an old hand and was not attached to the old style. Ya gotta improve that thread search. I like to go there before ordering a new brand.

A little larger type (for us old farts with Bi-focals), and change the font color back to blue, much easier on the eyes.

Also, would be nice if you could just hit the 'enter' bar instead of having to do the HTML thing to seperate paragraphs.

That, would make it much easier to read long winded posts!

Yeah, I also noticed that my most recent reply to a thread pushes the whole thread to the top. I thought like Calavera that happended for the whole board because mine was the most recent post. If that's the case, I don't think that's so great because you have already added the lateest post to a thread on the message summary page. But if it's just for my benefit so I can see my most recent replies to the threads I'm following,I think it's neat. That way I only see the threads I'm following, subject threads develop and threads go on longer than five or so replies (they could go on for years).

I like it. Now when posts are being answered and responded to they jump to the top. You know which threads have recent discussion instead of having to page down and cylce through the list. I also like the shading. It is very clear that way where one message ends and the next begins. Great job.

Just testing ... to see if my reply is inserted after a post that I want to reply to ... it was hit and miss with the old format.
